Eureka! I found the problem (I didn't give up!). According to the Dortania Opencore install guide, there is an issue peculiar to 3rd gen i3 processors (not i5, hence @trs96 was unable to reproduce my issue on his 8300 USDT) which means booting Opencore will black screen due to HFSPlus.efi not...

A bit reluctant to do that as it can't be back flashed to current working-with-catalina version. Besides, I already did that from 2.90 to 2.99 and cleared cmos etc. Thanks for all the suggestions, it's frustrating as this should be ridiculously simple!

That's great to know, thank you for trying that. Seems it's an issue with my machine then. Or very unlikely the 3245. I will look through your other suggestions in slower time. Weird though that my machine boots and runs clover ok, and catalina and boots a clover usb.

I tried other ports and rechecked bios settings. Important to note that the usdt does have different hardware-its basically a laptop. What's needed is for someone else with usdt to confirm or deny my findings

I agree! Just for fun I tried the Sniki EFI on my SFF 8300 and it boots, even though that has HD2500 (i5 3570) in, so I am aware I cannot install on this but the point is that it booted! Therefore it must either be a USDT specific thing, a 3425 specific thing, or a "my usdt" specific thing. I...

I tried it and same result. Perhaps either the usdt just doesn't like opencore or the 3245 doesn't. I'm hoping someone else with USDT/3245 has tried the sniki github files/EFI and can report back. I feel I've hit a brick wall now.

No adaptation to HDMI. As for trying to install later version well that could be an issue but I am not getting that far. The EFI should boot OC regardless of what's on the install partition right?

Yes I tried both DP outputs. Can see and use the HP boot menu but booting the USB gets zilch. PC boots clover fine and USB will boot on a Dell. Problem persists if any more suggestions. I still think it could be the id variables in config.plist as presumably set for a 3770 and I have 3245, but...
