With Apple tightening its OS with Yosemite, is it worth going the Hackintosh route anymore?
And I hope mods don't kill me for asking the question--I understand the handwork everyone puts in! :headbang: But I believe it's a fair question to ask...

I really like the Asus X99 Deluxe setup a little better but from my little research, it seems that Gigabyte plays nicer with OS X (OoB). Therefore, I'm going to look into GA-X99-UD5 WIFI.
Like I mentioned, my build is similar to the OP; I'm going with a i7-5820K and a GTX 970...
BoomR, I hope I'm not pressing my luck here cause you've been helpful but if you were going to advise someone who's building a very similar build as the OP, what mobo would you recommend?

I don't believe I will be mobile but with the extra cash, I'll probably buy a cheaper macbook to have some portability.
In reference to a monitor, I do have one but plan on upgrading to something better.
I should I also mention that at work I use a Mac Pro (previous generation) at work.

I don't know much about PC hardware when it comes to building a PC so I thought the GTX 770 would be sufficient.
I'm still new to video editing so the kind of rendering I'll be doing will be for work, it's your basic 720/1080p 30FPS footage but I will be getting more into Premiere as my career...
