Done, the details of my laptop are in my profile signature. It boots fine into safe mode with the boot flags I mentioned in the other post, at this stage I want to enable HD4000 graphics and be able to boot without safe mode.

Ended up buying a replacement card, this time around though my HD4000 graphics aren't working in 10.9.2 I always have to boot with -x -v -f GraphicsEnabler=N IGPEnabler=N

Dell Alienware M14X R2 i7 3610QM 2.3GHZ/HM77 HD4000 and Nvidia 650M 2GB @ 1600x900 I just used default PS2 drivers they seemed to work fine, I believe the Alienware uses a synaptic touch pad, although it just registers as a default PS/2 mouse.
