It turns out that this wasn't really much of a concern. I can use the power button on the dock to wake the machine. This isn't as convenient as just hitting a modifier key on the external keyboard, but far better than pulling it out from under the monitor stand to wake it.

I have only used AptioMemoryFix with the installer, and haven't had any trouble on my hardware.

I had this problem with the stock version of Clover, as well. It seemed to be an issue with AptioInputFix.efi. Removing it solved the problem for me.

May I suggest making the directory immutable, as well? sudo chflags schg /var/vm/sleepimage This would prevent any changes unless a superuser explicitly undid the change.
