Every time I've done this I've had to go through the security protocol / password change thing and I've had about 10 genuine Apple devices linked to my account, an iCloud subscription and a card stored with them. Think there's just something about the process that trips an alarm on their system.

This is why the advice is to always disconnect your MacOS drive before installing Windows on another drive. It has a habit of going its own way and overwriting things it shouldn't.

Bear in mind that if you use CCC, it won't include your EFI partition. So, assuming that you want the backup to be bootable/an exact copy, once the Carbon Copy is completed, use Multibeast to install Clover UEFI onto the backup drive, and then you can copy and paste the files from your boot...
