My recommendation only applies to the MiniTower version. Dell has a few form-factors of the Optiplex 755. You must have other than the MiniTower form factor -- example SFF (Small Form Factor) version.

Yeah, I too had the GS8400 working up through 10.7.5. It was with 10.8.4 that gave me grief with the EVGA card (mentioned above). Zotac GS8400, apparently, is more compatible with MacOS than the EVGA version that I have.

I agree. I have two Dell 755. My wife's job gave them to her for free. For the Minitower, I recommend the galaxy GT640 1G DDR3. It fits well in the case. See my install/ test notes below...
