@middleman good observed ...that it depands on the Install and probably the Model wich Plugin is in there.

Wireless isnt a good idea to start with...get some Plain USB cabled Mouse/Keyboard.

Did u try to Boot with PCIRootUID=1 maybe that does the Trick...if u get a Bluescreen but otherwise working Boot sometimes helps to unplug and replug Monitorcable.

I had similar issues on my workmashine EP45-UD3LR ALC888. With Multibeast 5.0.2 i had either silence or just noisy distortion. Only way to get it working in ML 10.8 was to use the Multibeast for Lion and select "System Tasks" and "Audio ALC8xx" and the "HDA Rollback" option.
