    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hey - thanks etorix - much appreciated. I hope it is a successful build, and will keep notes in case its a useful new thread to post on tonymac. I think you are right - very close to the z490. I am going to only run stock - not overclocking at all - and just a single GPU etc. I hope its...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

HI all, as above - I am embarking on one of these builds. Any commentary or pointers appreciated, but will also post results here/similar thread. My understanding is the w480 Vision D is "close as you can get" to a z490 Vision D/G so hoping the mainstay of the EFI tweaks and changes in this...

Beginners Guide to using OC Auxiliary Tools App (Also known as OCAT)

Hi, with OCAT, has anyone had reliable experience with the System Name -> Generate function? This default populates on the PI panel, the System Name (SMBIOS based), Serial, MLB and ROM values. Is this as good/same as the GenSMBIOS tool normally done manually? I just applied it on a build I am...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi all, First of all - great work seen here - 1000 pages+! Really need to hand it to CaseyJ, as so many reference creator builds to their credit. I am looking at embarking on a bigger build but since there are zero Z490 Vision D's around, in newish condition, and I missed out on a Vision G on...

    [Success] Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X - i9 10850K - RX580 - OpenCore 0.9.1 4k - Ventura 13.3.1 - Video Editing

I am not sure on this particular board, but I just experienced issues with adapters on my Dell build. They meant the DisplayPorts went to black screen. Once adapters removed, everything was OK again. I think trying to use adapters (without a full GPU card) screws up the hackintosh output.

    << Solved >> Blackscreen OC 0.7.6, ASUS Z490

I had this issue - Absolutely crazy, it was just the cable. I was wondering what in the heck was going on with my installer as it had the black screen (DELL 3630, OC089, Montery installer) - in my case I had a DVI-> HDMI adapter. Turns out this was the culprit - it is not GOOD ENOUGH to have an...

<< Solved >> Dell Precision 3630 Boots Great, Black Screens Randomly

Hi there, sorry to ask - but how id the BIOS update go? I am on 2.17 at the moment so wondering which (if any) is the next step up that's worth taking. On that note would be good to know what BIOS settings you used that succeeded - just the default "DELL" ones? I am using trs96's 7020 guide...

    Recommendations for video card (+CPU?)

Comments above are valid (life is like a box of chocolates) - in my case, I got a china sourced Yestron which took a-g-e-s to arrive by boat - and it registered as a 560 Polaris on my HP8300 SFF build (High Sierra) a few years back. Make sure yours is returnable, which is the only way to...

<< Solved >> Dell Precision 3630 Boots Great, Black Screens Randomly

Will update here with progress, possibly over the weekend. When you say you are using two drives to multi boot - I assume you mean by using the boot options on startup , and selecting a disk, right? Or is there another funky way of doing this? (I know other multiboot setups use the mac boot...

<< Solved >> Dell Precision 3630 Boots Great, Black Screens Randomly

Hey, thanks for the fast reply. All good stuff - I'm getting excited at the prospect of getting this going. Im assuming you mean use the attached EFI, as the baseline in OC, and follow a generic OC guide otherwise right? Also wasnt aware you had gone to Ventura (I was going to start with...

<< Solved >> Dell Precision 3630 Boots Great, Black Screens Randomly

Thanks for this update - looks like you made a huge amount of progress. I have a RX570 and a RX580 I can use, and am inspired by this thread to try to implement opencore on a dell precision 3630 i9-9900. I have a running optiplex classic 7020MT build, but not ventured into the process for a very...

[Guide] HP 6300 Pro / HP 8300 Elite - A 100 percent Working and Easily Affordable CustoMac

Cool. I have a GT7102GBLP but the 570 absolutely blows it away. In fact, I think the RX570 at 4GB or above is an absolute bargain, when you look at the capabilities and how close it is to a 580 its a great buy. OOB 570/580 works on Mojave, I do dual boot also (in fact triple with Ubuntu) and...

[Guide] HP 6300 Pro / HP 8300 Elite - A 100 percent Working and Easily Affordable CustoMac

Totally agree here - I have 8300 SFF, and a "work in progress" 8300CMT, and a completed 9020/7020 MT build. The 8300CMT does seem to be much larger and airy than it needs to be. The 9020/7020 MT is a good high end model with ample space for cards..etc... and VERY good compatibility. I would say...
