Though it took a while (about 75 minutes), the upgrade was painless and did not damage Chimera. After a few tweaks (ClassicShell, fixing my default apps, etc), it's quite usable for Windows.
Yes, I have the same issue. If I have the box connected when I boot, the system will hang as it switches to GUI until I disconnect the firewire cable. Also, I have to connect to port #2 on my box. This is not an issue when I connect to a Windows machine.
I haven't had a chance to do any high-pressure recording, but my Presonus FP10, although no longer supported in OS 10.8 and above, seems to be working well in Yosimite on my X99 system using the StarTech PCI-X firewire card...
I received my hardware, and based on your posts and the temporary installation guide I am now up and running. I'm experimenting with the Thunderbolt II expansion card, but haven't had any success yet. The real world keeps getting in the way of my tests.
