I've been following a tread on a facebook group where someone has claimed UniBeast alters certain files when installing osx. I've said that's rubbish and the only things modified are files to boot the installer, and that what is installed to hard drive is untouched OSX. Please tell me I'm correct.

I got my ethernet working using FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_BCM577XX_as_BCM57765.kext installed to /S/L/E I then got my wifi working by installing my old IONetworking and IO80211 kexts to /L/E

What are the rules here about discussing the modifications of kexts? I have one old faithful kext for my ethernet that has worked for many versions of osx but won't work in Mojave. I don't want to start a thread if it's against the rules. Mike

I've installed Mojave and got it booting but I'm unable to install any kexts to S/L/E I'm using kext wizard 3.7.11, it goes through the process and says "Done" but the kexts don't appear in S/L/E What are you all using to install kexts? Mike

My problem was I wasn't running the latest version of my current OS. I upgraded to 10.12.6 and now the full installer is downloading.

I want install Mojave on a spare hard drive first. How can I download the full installer not just the small installer from the app store? Mike

That so nearly worked, I screwed it up by trying to create a new account with my old username and password. Now it's well and truly screwed. I was hoping to keep it running until the final Mojave came out. Never mind.

I'm wondering if there's a default root password I can use to log into OSX. After a windows update that caused a crash I'm no longer able to log into my account, my name has vanished and I'm just left with the option of other. I've tried Root and root as user and my password without luck...

Thank you. I didn't know you could convert to MBR from GPT without upsetting partitions and data. I'll give that a try. Mike
