unfortunately, i've just been using a 22" 1080p monitor so I'm not sure if I can do any better resolutions... I know i had seen a kext out there that helped with higher resolution monitors
Try changing your SM_BIOS to iMac 18,1. I had the same problem and that worked for me

For anyone who runs into this issue inthe future, I got graphics working by setting SM BIOS to an iMac 18,1 ig-platform-id=0x59120000, and Intel GFX=0x59168086
