Hi everyone

I'm in the process of getting my first build for music production up and running and i've run into a bit of an issue with the integrated graphics (UHD630) on my i5 8400. I've had the somewhat common issue of the graphics showing 7 MB of vram and the overall graphic experience being awful - glitchy especially on launchpad and chrome, which are pretty much unusable and also getting weird artifacts in finder safari etc. In addition the dock doesn't show any transparency so its seems as though something is up with graphics acceleration.

So the details on my build...
CPU: i5 8400
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370M DS3H LGA 1151 mATX
Graphics: UHD630 integrated graphics
Ram: 16 GB Ballistix Sport LT
Storage: 240 gb boot SSD + 1 tb media fusion drive
OS: MacOS HighSierra

Booted with Unibeast and made my drive bootable via MultiBeast to no avail (with graphics issues). So i switched over CloverConfigurator (.plist from someone else on the forum attached) and i was able to boot (-x -v boot args) in with the graphics experience still being bad, however, about my mac showed the proper amount of vram (1536 mb) and recognized my monitor's correct size, resolution, and model number.

So i swapped this .plist's ig-platform-id=0x19160000 for g-platform-id=0x59120000 and when i booted up the graphics issue persisted, however my about my mac reverted to showing 7 mb of vram. So i'm pretty stuck now and not really sure what to do, any help from those of you with way more experience that me would be much appreciated.

.plists and kexts installed in /library/extensions are both attached

EDIT: i forgot to mention that sleep mode works with g-platform-id=0x19160000, but not g-platform-id=0x59120000 so I've been using that one due to that and the fact that out seems like the graphics are closer to working.

For anyone who runs into this issue inthe future, I got graphics working by setting SM BIOS to an iMac 18,1 ig-platform-id=0x59120000, and Intel GFX=0x59168086

.plist attached

I think your IGFX should probably be 0x59128086 - that corresponds to UHD630 (0x5916 is the deviceid for HD630 from Skylake. I suspect that changing to iMac18,1 is what fixed your problem.

However, if it ain't broke, don't fix it... ;-)

I have the same setup you have. What is the best resolution you are getting? I’m trying to get 2650x1440 (on a 4K monitor via HDMI) but in trying different combinations of IntelGFX ID and ig-platform-id I end up with a 3840x2160 resolution which makes everything too small, or the 1080p (1920x1080) which is not optimal on my 27 inch monitor. I also have SMBIOS set to 18,1 because 18,2 and 18,3 caused lots of screen flashing which was unusable.

Use clover configurator, Mount EFI then open config.plist. Go to GUI settings there are some close settings or you may be able to inset your own. Also add CSMVideo to drivers 64EFI folder.

unfortunately, i've just been using a 22" 1080p monitor so I'm not sure if I can do any better resolutions... I know i had seen a kext out there that helped with higher resolution monitors

Thanks Gigamaxx, I finally had a chance to try this tonight, but it does not appear to have made any difference.

Still exploring the HiDPI approach in this thread: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/adding-using-hidpi-custom-resolutions.133254/ but so far no luck.
