Oh dear oh dear oh dear... thank you. Of course I was missing this step. Thank you so much - the single biggest problem (for me) with the tonymac site is that everything is written assuming a certain amount of knowledge on the part of the reader. I have managed to figure out a lot of the...
Thanks Baldy
That's only going to help once I have the disk installed and have booted with the Beast. How do I know before I *buy* a disk???
I can't believe CustoMac only installs on SSDs. So I must have something set wrong in the BIOS on this MoBo - it is unbelieveably complex, and the...
Ummm... no Adrian the format of the partition (or indeed, the presence of a partition) is not relevant. The **BIOS** is not recognising the **HARDWARE** as being a bootable disk.
And once Unibeast has loaded, it too doesn't care what partition you have on the disk, or if there is a partition at...
Yeah thanks both of you guys but that doesn't address my problem.
My BIOS is set to AHCI. When I go into the [F10] settings on boot, the disk is listed as *present*, but depending on the type of disk, it is either shown as an AHCI disk or not.
The original SSD: shows up as AHCI and PO...
I'm talking about a traditional, spinning-rust type disk here - I've just tried several, both 2.5" and 3.5" of various ages (not more than 5 years old) but none of them was recognised as an AHCI disk by the motherboard I'm using (or by my UniBeast install flash drive). Is that unusual?
The...
I understand your invocation of the rules but I thought it was pretty clear my post was tongue in cheek. I can hardly see anyone claiming this particular reward from the other side of the planet...
Sorry everyone, offer withdrawn. But I still need help - please?
Forgive me if this is covered by a previous topic - I just have no idea where to begin searching for this problem.
I built a system 18 months ago and got it up to date with Mountain Lion. All worked well - well, sort-of well, there were issues with the magic mouse - but then it was decided to...
Thanks Baldy ;-)
Suspected as much. Done & done - working. Must say the whole setup / install thing has been quite an education. Many thanks to all the contributors who made it possible.
Hi there
I have just successfully completed an installation of Mountain Lion on a Kingston SSD with this board (that should be GA-B75M-D3P sorry about the typos), and all is well except for one little thing... with the 2x spinning metal disks that I have hooked up to the RAID-enabled SATA...
So then I remembered about the "search" function on this forum ;-)
Moved the Unibeast flash disk to a USB 2.0 port and voila. Oh my word, so many gotchas.
Thanks Stehor - already had most of that, except graphics was set to "Auto" - changed to IGFX but no change.
OK I lied about the -v switch - it does give some useful information at the end. It would appear to be as I suspected - Chimera (or whatever) is trying to boot from the wrong device...
Not really no entry - actually "no" as in "no parking" but without the "P". If you know what I mean. Little icon-sized sign over the Apple Logo on chimera's load screen.
How I get there:
- successfully installed Snow Leopard (retail DVD) and successfully upgraded it using the Multi-whatever...
