[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Just wanted to report that battery manufacture date is not reported correctly. It is however correct with VirtualSMC battery plugin. Cosmetic but since I like this kext, thought I'd report the issue. Another thing is battery charge cycles. They seem to be an arbitrary number that moves in an...

New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad (ClickPad support)

My system is neither busy nor slow. It works fine using 1-finger scrolling. Why not implement such a hack? Shouldn't be too difficult. Although not impossible, it's still quite difficult. I think some touchpads are more sensitive than others.

New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad (ClickPad support)

Feature Request: Smoother Scroll, better inertia. I noticed that scrolling on my Synaptics 8.1 ClickPad is not always smooth. Sometimes it jitters. Also, inertia scroll sometimes stops abruptly on lifting fingers. Did some investigation on macOS and Windows: The reason is that while lifting...

    ACPI help please

The startup issue returned again. I give up on it for now. Not worth the effort. For any Vaio owner with the display backlight not working after wake using lid, I've finally debugged the issue and found its root and created an appropriate fix. EC device is not correctly initialized when using...

    ACPI help please

I have same issue from shutting down from installer too. I can absolutely confirm (in my case) that codec commander installed then: boot -> sleep -> wake (and wait a few sec) -> shutdown -> system boot from first attempt. What audio codec do you have? Can you confirm this too?

    ACPI help please

As I said before: boot macOS, shut down macOS: press power button once -> power led blinks once and system doesn't start press power button again -> system starts normally While experimenting with Codec Commander, the issue seemed to be intermittently fixed. With Codec Commander: If I boot...

    ACPI help please

I did it. Made my F8 button switch between the 3 keyboard backlight modes thanks to your incredibly flexible driver. Still can't find the source of the startup after shutdown problem. I'm fairly certain its an ACPI issue. Not happening with Windows/Linux.

    ACPI help please

Yeah, sorry. I was trying to see if there's a difference between dropping and not dropping. Uploaded the plist with drop enabled. Sluggish is not the right word. Shutdown macOS/laptop, press power button once -> power button LED flashes once. System stays off. Press again -> system starts...

    ACPI help please

1- Resolved. Thank you. Not gonna drop any SSDTs since they don't seem to be causing any issues. (will keep testing) 2- How so? Brightness control is working fine (UI and key shortcuts, full range). Just need to force display LEDs power on from _WAK after using lid to sleep. I haven't seen any...

    ACPI help please

Okay, here are the files. 1- So stock SSDTs (including dynamically loaded ApIst, ApCst, Cpu0Cst) are okay? 2- Problem is not brightness. Its's the actual backlight LEDs not powering on. I can only see ghosting on the screen. 3- Files attached 4- Files attached (Minor issue since I mapped...

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

I did read but I didn't think that was all of it. My mistake. Anyway, here are the results of my experimentation: - Simple PNLF in DSDT = brightness control - limited range - SSDT-PNLF = brightness control - full range I find it interesting that I don't seem to need a "custom EDID"...

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

This worked for me. Brightness control with full range of brightness. With a simple PNLF in DSDT and no injectors/patches, I get brightness control but restricted max brightness. I remember you saying somewhere else that a custom EDID to match AppleBacklight would fix the brightness range...
