I thought there was a reason that AMD cards aren't recommended. Does sleep work?
It's a bit confusing, the buyers guide only mentions a few AMD cards, and say's they are only supported in macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 and later.
Oddly, this solved my problem even though doing an "ls -l" in the Extensions directory showed identical permissions on all files!
Thanks a million for this easy fix!
@RehabMan Wait, I don't get this - you apparently found a problem with his ACPI configuration, but when he asked you for details about what you saw you say you don't know without proper "Problem Reporting files".
Yet clearly you saw an issue. Why not just state what problem you saw without...
Still can't get the video drivers working, even with the new version!! :(
I installed the old beta driver yesterday. It installed fine, but I the system wouldn't "enable" the driver. I'd tell it to enable the driver, it would prompt for a re-start, but after re-booting, the OX Default Graphics...
So basically you were never actually running the Nvidia drivers before, you just had the Nvidia manager installed, but left the Apple drivers enabled.
Still not sure why you can enable the Nvidia drivers now that you have the beta drives installed. It won't work for me. But it's great that...
I'm not sure what you mean - I can't seem to enable the beta drivers at all. As I said, I enable Nvidia driver with the Nvidia control, a restart is required. But upon restart, the Apple driver is enabled, NOT the Nvidia one. The Nvidia toolbar even shows that it's the OS X divers in use.
And I...
Ok, unfortunately the Beta driver didn't work on my system. It seemed to install fine, but when I try to switch back to the Nvidia driver from the OS X drivers, it won't stick - after every re-start, the OS X drivers are back enabled. :(
Bump
No one else is having this problem? This has been driving me crazy. I can't play any DVD's or .dvdmedia files.
This is even though my DVD drive is recognized and working - just not for playing DVD movies!
Anyone? help?
thanks in advance
Hi,
I've just upgraded my machine OS X El Capitan with the clover boot loader. I've gotten all of my hardware working. And even my dvd drive is recognized. But I'm still getting the "Valid DVD Drive could not be found" error when trying to play .dvdmedia files.
I've already replaced the...
Hi All,
I have a long delay / spinning beachball after login when starting my system.
I'm running a fresh install of Mavericks 10.9.5 with an Nvidia GTX 660 card. I've installed on a spare Intel SSD drive.
My install version was 10.9.4. I immediately installed the Nvidia drivers...
Article: Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide December 2013
So most of the Nvidia cards on this list aren't fully supported in Mavericks. I feel like we're giving bad advice to people out there coming to this list looking for compatible hardware.
There is a note that the GTX780 and above...
