Just plugged this EFI into my desktop (see signature) while trying to get bluetooth working on Catalina and everything other than the built in wifi seems to be working, am using ethernet so that doesn't matter. iMessage seems to work but it's not something I especially care about so haven't...
Just posting in here about my experiences with a UX305LA on OSX 10.11.5, which I've been using for two months from this guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-asus-zenbook-ux305fa-for-el-capitan.185917/
Software
I've yet to encounter any issues installing any software, which includes...
So here are some idiot notes I've made that I wish I had the discipline to make myself do before starting to figure it all out:
Firstly try on an external or blank drive (I done this one, of course, but it can never be repeated enough, I'm sure)
Partition drive to have at least 2 partitions...
Was working on El Capitan the whole day today with next to no issues
1. when I shook the mouse really fast, the icon got large. This seems like it might be a thing it's meant to do though.
2. USB wifi sucks, naturally
3. I couldn't get it to load up a second monitor when I connected via hdmi...
Haha, great! My version of clover configurator is like 2 weeks old and it wasn't on it, so that's a pleasant surprise.
I'm only using usb tethering atm, mostly been using Ubuntu so I've gotten used to having the arrows signaling that it's connected. It appears under the network info though.
RE...
Wound up doing the SMBIOS stuff there. I used spigot's SMBIOS configurations mentioned earlier as I've the same model (MacBookAir7,2), it all seemed to run fine. I've included my current config file and a screen shot of the About This Mac screen.
Primary questions are whether I've to find some...
Still haven't gotten around to the SMBIOS stuff, but I thought people might like to know the HoRNDIS USB tethering package is working for me with seemingly no issues on 10.11.5 (HoRNDIS-rel8pre2-dbg.pkg, specifically) You've to copy the kext after installing into EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other.
Pretty...
Haven't had a chance to get to this yet but here's a photo and the clover files I've repeatedly failed to provide (sorry!)
It resolves itself when I close the laptop and reopen it too.
I think the occasional white flashes on the screen that I mentioned a few posts back only happen when I've...
Not sure if it's correct but that copy of clover was copied direct from the EFI partition of the SSD with OSX on it after:
1. Running clover
2. Adding HFSPlus.efi, the two kext files, and the relevant files from the UX305 repo in the first post (the asl files, config.plist) into the relevant...
Whoops, sorry about the double post but it won't let me edit (goes to an error window). The EFI/Clover comes from EFI-Backup copy after pressing F4 on the boot menu for clover.
the IOReg files were gotten from opening IORegistry explorer and saving the output. Was I supposed to open a specific file with it?
Steps:
1a. Log into OSX
1b. Copy files from USB
1c. Open IORegistry Explorer
1d. Save copy as...
2. Following the voodoohda patch and immediately prior to...
The IORegFiles folder contains versions from directly after I got onto the desktop and right before I powered off (i.e. ran sh install_downloads.sh, ran the voodoohda package and patched it).
terminalOutputs contains files regarding:
1. the kextstat and kextcache outputs, both before and after...
Yep, you were 100%, I downloaded HFSPlus again and it was drastically larger so the file I was using must've been broken.
Now, when it booted prior to running sh install_downloads.sh, it booted from the drive. Around the midway point on the screen with the apple screen it starts flickering...
Yep, it doesn't show as an option in Clover. I actually have no problem getting in and out of OS X via the installer USB's version of clover until I try setting up Clover on the destination drive.
Fast boot is disabled.
I've attached the Clover files from the installer USB there. Will add the...
