Well it's a partial fix for me here.
Partial in the sense that vczilla's method worked to get me into 10.8.2 and get my monitor(s) working and all that. But I still seem to have the same problems I've had since 10.8.0, namely, Quicktime hangs (briefly) when going into full screen/going out of...
For some reason, this simply is not working for me. I've tried to re-install the drivers with 5,1 in my smbios, i've tried using other ones like 3,1 and 12,1. None of those make any difference. I've tried using Nvidia's install app and I've tried using pacifist. I still have the same issues I...
seems to have fixed the resolution change issue but everything else still isn't working properly: i.e. monitor sleep and hanging when playing/coming out of full screen videos
I have a dual graphic card setup, so one of the cards works fine out of the box (no patching/kexts needed) and both of them will work fine with GraphicsEnabler=Yes or EFI strings.
Like you I'm not experiencing performance issues or any shutdown/restart issues, its only when the monitors sleep...
I installed this anyway but it did not seem to make any difference. I tested it by playing a video in Quicktime in full screen and I still got tearing when going/going out of full screen.
I'll wait on this thread a bit more and see if others experience the same sort of thing. Otherwise I'll make a new thread.
I definitely think its a driver issue.
I too have thought about going back to Lion but it is still early days. It has only "officially" been out for 24 hours or so.
I don't have a screensaver running so that can't be it, and Sleep doesn't work on my computer - never has in OS X. So that cancels sleep out. I do have my monitors set...
I get it intermittently, just randomly. I can always get through to the desktop and I can even use the OS for quite sometime, its only after a while of not using it and leaving it on, when I come back to it the display is all garbled (artefacts) and the system just appears to be hung.
I can...
I'm getting that same Channel Timeout error on my console logs also.
If I don't use any smbios it will work for me out of the box with GraphicsEnabler set to Yes and no EFI or anything else. I have also added my device ID to the 100HAL kext but that hasn't done anything.
I keep...
So I changed my EFI strings so that the cards would be 1gb each and I turned off graphics enabler and changed my smbios to Mac12,1 and I'm still having the same issues :(
