[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Hey two quick questions: 1. Will this work with El Capitan? 2. Is it possible to reverse the PNLF patch without starting from a fresh DSDT dump? Thank you!

[FIX] Fixing the dreaded "Self-Assigned IP Address" Error

So, after two days of really messing with things, I've managed to come up with a comprehensive set of steps that may allow anyone experiencing the "Self-Assigned IP Address" problem to overcome it. A. Kext/Driver Related Issues This can be tricky, but is your most likely cause. The most...

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Haha I SWEAR I thought I had deleted it already, but you were right. Deleted it and it's fully working now, no EDID patch necessary. Thank you Sensai.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Hey Rehabman, I believe I followed your guide pretty closely however I'm not getting any brightness control. Thought I'd grab a second opinion before I go ahead and patch the EDID. Any help would be appreciated.

    NullCPUPowermanagaement.kext laptop use question

Would your guide for patching XCPM in the kernel work for him in this case? It goes back to Yosemite, but if he doesn't mind downgrading... Ref: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302376-guide-patching-the-kernel-for-haswell-cpus-xcpm-early-reboot/

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Right. The ACPI tables that I patched originally came from Linux. SSDT-6/7/8 are all dynamically generated (came from the dynamic folder). As per your guide, dynamic tables are to be ignored. Am I wrong? Edit: Ran back through your guide, I see that Clover appends an 'x' to the end of...

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Yeah that IOREG was made prior to getting Clover running. Not sure where RegExplorer draws that info from but I have Clover on a USB stick right now. I attached a new dump here. I just lol'd pretty hard though, your attention to detail is unmatched by any haha I've never been owned like that before.

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Haha alright, you win. Tossed Clover on a USB stick. Though I'm a fan of Cameleon I must say Clover boots OSX a lot quicker, fewer warnings as well.

I'm running Chameleon. Is that intended to get the original DSDT dumps? I have the originals from Linux.

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Gotcha. Just looked over your guide on how to use output method calls. Could you give me a hint as to where I should begin investigating? I assume BST, but if I'm being honest I'm not 100% sure what all of these variables/values represent.

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Right, however that output is shown when the AC adapter is not plugged in and the battery is discharging. In other words, the output doesn't change regardless of the actual physical state. Whatever state the battery was in at boot is the status it remains at. So possibly my issue is elsewhere...

[Guide] How to patch DSDT for working battery status

Awesome guide man, thanks a lot. I learned quite a bit about editing DSDT's and ACPI syntax from this. Anyway, everything's working except I'm having the same issue as a lot of others in which the AC adapter status doesn't update. It remains at whatever it was during boot and doesn't change...
