For a week and a half I having been racking my brain trying to successfully install Mavericks. This thread is more of a chronicle of events and a semi-vent of my troubles. Here's my system seen below:

  • Intel Core i7-4770K
  • EVGA Z87 FTW (ATX)
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2
  • Noctua NH-U14S
  • ASUS BW-12B1ST
  • Western Digital VelociRaptor 500GB
  • OCZ Vertex 4 512 GB
  • Patriot Dual Bay 2.5" SATA 3.5" drive bay (for SSD)
  • EVGA GeForce GTX480 SC (being used to install); will change out to GTX680 after Mavericks installation
  • Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz; will update to 16GB after install

I was able to use the iBoot Haswell boot CD
here to install Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.8
so I could create my Mav USB install. So far I haven't been been able to go any further than the bootloader screen. After choosing the USB install, I get a flashing white Apple logo screen and instant reboot. I created my USB install using this method here by setting up the USB as a GPT and installing the bootloader on an "active" EFI partition, which successfully boots on another X58 system of mine. I've tried all combinations of boot flags: GraphicsEnabler=No [or Yes] with IGPEnabler=Yes [or No], IGPPlatformID=01660003, IGPPlatformID=0D220003, PCIRootUID=1, PCIRootUID=0, and npci=0x3000. -v (verbose mode) will go down the the list of kexts, etc. and then I get flashing white Apple screen and instant reboot. -x has no effect.
I had also updated to the latest BIOS using the settings below:

SATA mode is set to AHCI.

There is no option for Vt-d, so I disabled Intel Virtualization Technology.

XHCI Mode = Smart Auto, XHCI Hand-off = Enabled, EHCI Hand-off = Enabled.

Devices on the system have the option to boot via UEFI and Legacy.

I've tried onboard HDMI and I still get the same result. I'm out of options to get this thing to work so I decided I will return the
Z87 FTW and replace it with the Asus Sabertooth Z87 LGA 1150 Motherboard. I've seen a lot of good reviews on this board and I already have an Asus P4P800-E Deluxe system (old school heads know about this one) with Windows Vista installed that is still working to this day, so I know their quality is good. This Z87 FTW board has been a slight let down. Even though the BIOS is pretty, things are pretty much scattered, not to mention the manual discusses nothing about how to set up the BIOS or descriptions of its options. My first Hackintosh was the EVGA X58 SLI Classified Intel X58 4-way and it was so much easier and less painful to set up. I'll go ahead take my losses while it's early. Thanks for taking to time to hear me out.
