Hi,
this seems to be my first post here, reading was all i needed by now;)
Not sure if this should be here or in the Graphics threat, please redirect me if i m wrong.

I installed Mavericks via the sticky posts and it works quite well. A new, compatible wifi card is ordered, i hope it will be here soon.

After i installed everything i headed to the BIOS to reanable switchable graphics in hope to use my Radeon 8750m. Well, nothing happened....Probook runs just fine, but no sign of the graphics card :(

Is there any workaround/ trick how to enable the Radeon graphics card? I really need it's openCL technology for premiere / rest of the adobe suit....

I hope you can help me, if you need any further information just tell me (best would be a tutorial on how to get that exact information since i m quite new to hackintosh/mac)

greetings

That card is not supported i'm afraid in mac/hackintosh . You can only use the Intel GPU . If you want to use it just dual boot with windows anytime you need to use opengl

Radeon (or Nvidia) in a switched configuration is not supported. Real Macs use a different switching technology than do PCs.

hmmm sad...
did not plan to build a hackintosh when i bought my pc/ laptop, so now i have a probook that runs mavericks out of the box but wont be able to render via hardware and a pc with a MB that only recognizes 2 USB 2.0 ports and none of the 6 USB 3.0 ports
:(

just so that i have asked:
The radeon card will never be supported? No way to write a custom kernel or something?

thanks for the fast answers

HD4000 is quite adequate for most tasks. It is "rendering via hardware" -- it is just that the hardware is provided by Intel (on the CPU) instead of from AMD.

My ability to predict the future is diminished today due to a friend that has borrowed my crystal ball :)

Yeah i see i did not phrase that right...
The Radeon GPU can render Video projects from Premiere via openCL, which is a huge boost in performance compared to rendering everything on the CPU. The chances that i need my laptop to cut videos is quite small since i have a Desktop build for that task.

I will wait for the wifi card to arrive. Then i will decide if i like Mac and will use it or reinstall Win8 (which i like a lot)

Why not have both OS X and windows 8 like many of us do?

I dislike windows, and would rather use linux, although windows 8.1 is improving,, I use it purely for some of my work software which is not compatible with Mac OS, the rest of the time, its hackintosh for me, due to the fact I do lots with audio, it just makes sense in my case.

I did that with linux many times.
Turnes out i just waste disk space, since i m to boored to boot to the alternate OS and just keep using Windows ;)

I actually really like Windows, but i don't care much about the OS i use.
I need the Adobe Suite to run, because i earn my cash with it.
I need Office 365 to run, because everything else sucks compared to it. Thats just my impression as a student hearing everybody else ranting about Openoffice or iWorks.
Everything else? I don't care, most of my stuff is in the cloud...

Would love to use Linux or OSX, but for me bual-booting never worked

Maybe someday someone will find a way to use my graphics card, or gives me a Mac Pro (that thrash can is the most beautiful piece of hardware i have ever seen)
