Hi guys,

first, let me start of by saying I have never, ever, ever been able to get HDMI audio to work, on multiple builds. the whole convoluted thing with DSDT edits and such has always eluded me, as there's so much variability and things change so much that what works for one person wont work for another. I had honestly all but given up on making it work, across multiple systems.

so i was setting up an XPS8300 a few weeks ago (see my other threads for fun with a GTX670 in that build) and was making another feeble attempt to get HDMI audio working, and was getting nowhere with it. I started doing some searching, and came across this:

I dont know what this guy did exactly, but this hdmi audio kext he has made is in my mind, GOLDEN. I have tried this on every build I have available to me with a graphics card with HDMI, and every single one has worked, flawlessly. plug and play works. audio transmission works (both stereo and up to 7.1, i connected an xps8300 w GTX670 to my home stereo, instantly saw 8 output channels and passed both stereo and DTS signals with no issue from plex)

curious if anybody else has tried this kext and if they've had equally good results?

im going to try it this weekend with my dual xeon build which has no built-in sound capabilities, will report back on that one and see how it goes.

Thank you so much for posting this!

Now using the HDMI audio onboard the graphics card. As usual, volume control is done on the TV itself. OS X does not control the volume.

I have a Nvidia GTX650 Ti setup connected to my AV Receiver with 5.1 speaker setup and it worked flawlessly! No hassle! Audio MIDI Setup also shows 8 channel output.

My setup:
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 with i7 870
Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX650 Ti 1GB
OS X Mavericks 10.9.4

Any clues where did this kext come from originally?

I believe the original poster in the macrumors thread is the original author. I wanna buy the guy some beer for all the trouble he saved me!

Working here (although I usually use other solutions, wanted to try this)

Has been working flawlessly here for a good few weeks now.

ASUS Z97I-Plus & GTX780.

HDMI audio success with Yosemite 10.10.1 using GA-Z87-D3HP + GV-N640OC-2GI + Intel Core i5 4670K.

I'll test this out with my 970 tonight.

I'm glad I came across this, I'm now getting audio from my 970's displayport to my monitor. I just bought a displayport (male) to HDMI (female) adapter, that I'm hoping will allow me to use my home theater as a second monitor.

Hot Diggety, this is amazing.

This morning I got my gtx970 video running within 5 minutes, and this worked in about half that time. My Hackintosh is now working perfectly!

Is anyone having the short drop off with this kext? My rig running 10.9.5 with hd 7970 works perfect.
My 10.10.1 with asus lp silent gt 610 has short drop offs in the audio via hdmi.
