ok,
I got the Gigabyte GTX 980 G1.
Put it in, connected it. No problem.
But I can't boot normally. I have 10.10.2 with no NV drivers installed. Thought to give it a try without those. But it stops booting.
I can access the system and boot with nv_disable=0 or nv_disable_1
But it is a very rudimentary boot. The resolution is really low and I cant change it.
I connected the screen through displayport. My Mainboard is MSI gaming 3 z97.
Should I try and install the driver?
Where can I find them for 10.10.2? Cant find then on the nvidia site anymore.
Oh, and the fans are always spinning making a lot of noise.
Need help :(

cheers
oger

UPDATE:
I got it working.
Installed the driver recommended from Nvidia.
Edited the Chameleon file to load the driver an rebooted. Fans stopped spinning full blast as well.

How did you do that? I also have Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 and its fans sound very loud.

I got Gigabyte GTX 980 G1. Dual Monitors (2 x dvi) don't work. Will try to connect the first monitor with DP but at time I don't have the DP cable. The second monitor doesn't have DP (dvi only). So I can connect only: DP + DVI.
MB: Asus P9X79 Pro, 10.10.2 nvidia web drivers.

What if I try to connect DVI-monitor like this: DVI -> dvi-to-DP_adapter -> DP? Is it the same as DP or absolutely not?

When I tried to connect 2 monitors with DVI cables - it hanged up with the white screen. After it I try to restart my computer - no monitors work anymore. I tried to boot with nv_disable=1 which worked before but now it doesn't work and my system doesn't boot with only one monitor connected to my pc. I reinstalled system - now it boots fine again (using single monitor only).

Hi folks,

I've been lurking here for the past 2 months and finally decided to build a Hackintosh. I have a Gigabyte z97n-wifi mobo and a GTX 970 video card (using HDMI). I got everything installed just fine with zero boot issues, but as some other people have had issues with, it's only displaying at 1080p instead of 4k which my Acer monitor supports. I have the latest 10.10.2 nvidia web drivers as well. I used Stork's guide so I'm not sure if any kext files need to be deleted/moved now that this video card is installed instead of using the on board video. Here are the settings i used for multibeast to get it up and running. Does anyone have any suggestions to try to get 4k working? Thanks in advance.

:ch: Run MultiBeast and selection the following:
:ch: Quick Start > DSDT Free
:ch: Drivers > Audio Realtek ALCxxx > ALC892
:ch: Drivers > Misc > EvOreboot
:ch: Drivers > Network > Intel > AppleIntelE1000e v3.1.0
:ch: Customize > Boot Options > Uncheck Generate CPU States <---- Important for 9-series motherboards with Haswell Refreshed processors; prevents freezes
:ch: Customize > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 14,2
Note: toleda has suggested that we use the following:
iMac14,1 - HD4600 only, or
iMac14,2 - HD4600 and discrete graphics card or discrete graphics only

:ch: Build <--- To see your full configuration

Finally I've bought DVI->DP adapter and DP-cable. Dual monitors doesn't boot with my Gigabyte GTX 980. I've tried following dual monitors configurations:

  • DP + DP - doesn't boot (white screen)
  • DP + DVI - doesn't boot (white screen)
  • DP + "DualLink DVI-I -> DP_adapter" - doesn't boot (white screen)
  • DVI + DVI - doesn't boot (white screen with disabled icon)

Monitors: DELL U2412M (1920x1200) + SAMSUNG SMS27A850 (2560x1440)

When the system is booted with single monitor I can plug the second one and it perfectly works at: 2k resolution.
By the way, I don't know why but my "DualLink DVI-I -> DP_adapter" doesn't work at 2k resolution but I suppose it should because it's dvi-i not just dvi. It works only with 1080p.

Help!
i had everything working with 980 but now it won't boot anymore. Harddisk is not loading the system only showing greyscreen and circle with a dash across it.
tried displayport and hdmi.
are there any bootflags i can try?
Do i need to rreinstall the system?

Try to see what's wrong there with adding the "-v" flag to your boot flags. Also you can try the "-x" flag. Do you use single monitor or dual?

Is there any way to see the temperature of the GTX 980 in the HWMonitor? There's no any information about GTX980.

I got it running at 3840x2160 30 Hertz by using a display port cable instead of HDMI.

I use single 4k monitor with displayport.
-x lets me boot. I can acces the system with basic functions.
-v shows a log. It halts at "still waiting for root device"
gtx 980 actually seems to work. I still have 4k 60hz resolution with -x
what should i try now to get it to boot without -x ?
