Installing Yosemite Asrock Z77 Extreme 4

As was a problem before (I don't remember how I fixed this way back), the USB 3 ports near the usb 2 ports work fine for me, the set at the other end do not. I had these working prior to the upgrade but I don't remember what (if anything) I did to make them work.

If you have your modem set to WPA2, the TL-WN823N is not going to connect, unless you modify some file name "info.plist" and add a kext... The TL-WDN4800 is recommended by working out-of-the-box, just plug & play.

For the dvd drive, you only have one hard drive installed, so disable "Put hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" in System Preferences/ Energy Saver, it should fix that. I don't recommend disabling if you plan to put 2 or more hard drive. Sony DVD doesn't have that problem and its recommended for CustomMac's.

I'm also having problems with my usb 3.0 going to give it a try tomorrow. Sound only works with onboard output (mobo), no hdmi. Hope this helps

Thanks!

USB 3.0 must be selected when doing MultiBeast, it is only for 5 & 6 Series Motherboards. Your is a 7 series.

Will MultiBeast support 7 series motherboards eventually or is there an alternative?

Thanks!

7, 8 & 9 Series boards support USB 3.0 natively if they are on the intel Chipset which yours are except for two of the rear ports. They should work fine after you have installed OS X.

None of my USB 3.0 Ports work — only the USB 2.0 ports are working at the moment. And here's what my options are for sound output:

Neither Line Out option has any sound??

EDIT: Disabling "Put hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" actually didn't work the DVD drive still opened on boot

Are you using a custom ROM? (BIOS 2.9 patched)

Got usb 3 working, just remove USB3 Kext from MultiBeast by running in terminal the following command, enter your password and restart.

sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext/

With Z77, usb 3.0 ports are not backwards compatible (they only work with usb 3.0 devices).

BTW, disabling "hard disks to sleep" prevents the dvd drive from loading every 10min...

Nope, currently 2.8

Still no luck for me after doing this :/

Is anyone else having the same problem with the tray opening when they boot?? I'm not sure what to do

Make sure it is connected to a SATA 3 Gbit/s (not 6 Gbit/s) and preferably an Intel port not a Marvel.

Good Luck

That's a common issue with TSST drives, Sony DVD Optiarc doesn't have that problem (Buyer's Guide October - Accessories)

Did you tried all usb 3 ports with a 3.0 flash drive? You can tell if your drivers were installed correctly on About This Mac/ System Report/ Hardware/ USB...

oh my gosh I changed the resolution for my display and I can't see anything now I tried booting in safe mode but when I went to System Preferences to change it back it was already fixed so I restarted and it's still all messed up?!
