Guide to Installing Mountain Lion on HP Probook

Ok I am using ProBook Installer version 6.1.12 which is the latest one if I am correct. I am just about to print the ProBook Installer guide and make sure I have the right "Display Type".

Thank you very much again. I will report back.

6.1.12 is the latest beta.

Read the guide and pay attention to the descriptions within the ProBook Installer.

Hi, I follow the steps exactly, everything installs and after the first reboot the apple logo shows up then keeps rebooting.

I have a probook 4530s. I've tried booting with -x -v. Its shows many lines of (kIODeviceNotResponding error)
at the end of the line it shows DSMOS has arrived and stops rights there. what is it?

What step by number? What are your hardware details?

Thank you so much, I re-installed the OS and everything seems to be OK now .

It has been discovered that the Mini-SSDT is actually not helpful with 4x40s (only 4x30s).

What did you select in the ProBook Installer? My guess is that you selected the wrong screen type.

Ok I am in business and i am typing this message using my ProBook 4540s Mac!!! So far the basic functions work as far as I can tell including WiFi! I am running Mac OSX 10.8.5 (I have not installed the latest supplement). I have not tested bluetooth yet but it seems that is active.

Definitively folks take extra time to read this guide, the Unibeast instructions and the FAQ. One wrong turn and you might be set back several hours. No kidding! Print these documents and read them several times. In my case I might have chosen the wrong 'display type'. I went this time for the 'Low-resolution screen' (15" and smaller display with resolution 1366x768) even though my ProBook has a display of 15.6" diagonal. Also as RehabMan pointed out there is no need for the 'mini SSDT' as explained in step 4a of the guide. If you are confused on what step you missed you might as well start over and save yourself additional headaches in my humble view.

I will report back if there are any other findings that I see worthwhile for this forum. In the mean time please appreciate what this outstanding team is doing for all of us and donate what is in your heart for this site. It is worth it indeed.

With gratitude!

As always, knowing what hardware you have is extremely important (eg. knowing the resolution of your display, CPU model Ivy vs. Sandy, etc.). Problems abound when people attempt to guess their way through.

Congrats on your successful install.

Thanks. I just tested bluetooth and it worked with a Plantronics Voyeger 855 listening to music (TuneIn) and doing a Skype test! I had to disable all the checks for BT keyboard/mouse/trackpad to avoid getting the pop up message from time to time (after coming from sleep it seems).

For the ProBook screens that are over 15" (15.6") but the resolution is 1366x768 perhaps we can modify the guide(s) so people choose the right 'display type' which would be 'Low-resolution screen' as my experience showed.

Good luck for everyone else in this journey. It was mostly fun for me :)

Folks:

Any issues installing the latest security update 2014-001 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1729 ?

If you were successful, could you please describe the steps. Also what about other updates such as Safari 6.1.2?

I appreciate it very much!

It should be ok as long as you run the ProBook Installer to get "OS X support kexts" for your model of ProBook after doing the update.
