Another successful build here!

I7 4770K 3.5ghz + GA-Z87MX-D3H + Galaxy 660 Ti 3GB + 16gb 1600mhz DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Kit + 2x Samsung 830 120Gb SSD (RAID 0)

Unibeast booted flawlessly without any flag at all and i don`t need any flag for the final installation too (except the flag for RAID boot identification).

The hole process was really smooth, even for the RAID config i just followed this video.

Some benchs (no OC):

hi, you have a modded bios? if so, which one?
what settings you are using in the bios?

MultiBeast 6:01 how did you set?

Hi Intek! I`m using the BIOS that came oob with my mobo, F5 version (looked for another versions in the gigabyte site but it seems that this one is the latest).

I`m using Multibeast 6.1, this is what i have installed:

PROBLEM: I`ve been experiencing some random freezes (everything freezes, sound, mouse, i just don`t know if i can access it through the network, next time i`ll try it).

Tried changing my unifying receiver through all the USB ports but it doesn`t make any difference, so now i`m with XMP turned off, my RAM is operating at 1333mhz (was 1600mhz with Profile 1). I already have some hours of uptime, but last time it took 5 hours to freeze it, so it`s too early to be sure of it.

Check my thread here for similar freezing on my GA-Z87MX-D3H.

So far, Removing 2 memory sticks out of the black slots has made my system stable for over 12hrs. Been running this a week and upto this point, I could only get it to go about 4 or so hours before another freeze.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm. To fix the "freezing", see tonymacx86's Post #234 for using the modified BIOS.

Also, see this Post #239 which confirmed the modified BIOS fixed the freezing.

The modified BIOS is now at version F8m:
GA-Z87X-UD4H BIOS F8d mod
Modified with :
Intel RAID for SATA 12.7.0.1936 to 13.1.0.2030
Intel EFI SataDriver 12.7.0.1936 to 13.1.0.2030
Marvell 88SE91xx Adapter 1.0.0.0027 to 1.0.1.0025
Intel Boot Agent GE 1.5.04 to 1.5.48
Intel GigabitLan X64 5.1.00 to 6.0.24
Intel PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS 2179
Intel GOPdriver 5.0.1036
CPU Microcode Pack (with 06C317)
ME firmware 9.0.30.1482
Modified splash logo 2

Does this mean that GA-Z87X-UD4H BIOS F8d mod can work with our z87mx? Just want to make sure to avoid bricking my board?

by the way, this build thread has been helpful for me, I was able to build my rig with the same specs as with Tony's except for some minor changes:

Trident 2400 32gb RAM
Then also added an asus 29 280x.

Initially the 280x worked for a day, then after I reboot the next day, everything was slow to post. Even the gigabyte splash screen and Chimera boot up. Even my opengl scores where low.

After 2 days of troublshooting and even clearing my CMOS, i found the fix to set the PCIE speed to gen 2. Not sure what that is for, but when i tried gen 3 for PCIE speed, i have the slow post issue.

Setting PCIE speed back to Gen 2 worked like a charm. now to save up for another 280x.

Thanks Tony!

Thanks for the tip, but I've already flashed the F5 Mod bios for my GAZ87-MX-D3H, this does not fix the freezing on this board.

Freezing may be caused by using XMP RAM profile in UEFI and Generate cstates in boot.plist.

Check /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist, and set the following lines:

<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>No</string>

Hope this helps!

Yeah, turning the XMP Profile made my machine runs smoothly for 2 days.

I saw that thread about the freezing and updating the BIOS to fix it, but this will work for our mobo ? GA-Z87MX-D3H? I`m already using the last official version for it (F5), should i install the version for the GA-Z87X-UD4H?

Tony may have a point thought, in my boot.plist i had Yes for the GenerateCstates. I`m gonna try changing it to No and test it.

QUESTION: As im booting from a RAID volume, i just need to change the org.chameleon.Boot.plist in the Extra folder in the root of the RAID mount right? I`m asking that cause i don`t remember if we have a Extra folder in the Boot partition of each disk or somewhere else... RAID is confusing about these boot things.

This in VERY IMPORTANT. Only apply BIOS for your motherboard model and version number. Never apply any BIOS revision for another board or version.

It should help to make your installation more stable and less prone to crashing/freezing

My understanding is that you will only have a single extra folder on one disk. What guide did you follow? Was it this one?
