Guide To Install Mavericks with Clover Bootloader

Yes, 4530s works fine (note: I have 1080p currently on 4530s).

I'll play around with the 4540s to see if there is a combo that fixes the scrambling...

what res are you using on your 4540s RM, 1080p also?

This new monitor at 14" appears to only be slightly smaller than the 15.6", but with my eyesight, I couldn't read the text on anything smaller im sure lol

Not yet. Eventually will move the AUOv4 from 4530s to 4540s. But need an afternoon of quiet to take both laptops apart...

Did some testing here "With CSM" vs. "Without CSM".

"With CSM": NO scrambling on verbose/booting recovery partition.
"Without CSM": scrambling IS present on verbose/booting recovery partition.

So, for my 4540s (standard screen now): Better results "With CSM".
This machine is currently running Clover 2372.

Note: Not using CsmVideoDxe-64.efi.

when you say better results, your meaning with verbose.

Yes.

but in general, does the image look better "without CSM", as in, not stretched compared to "with CSM"?

Stretched "With CSM". For Clover GUI, It is selecting 1024x768, much like on 4530s, instead of 1366x768. The stretching could be solved with a custom theme (a bit of a pain since all the icns files need to be expanded, then re-built), or perhaps some other tweak that enables stretching within the GUI (vertically).

I will see if the CsmVideoDxe has any help...

Update: With CsmVideoDxe, boot screen is using wrong video timing, verbose boot doesn't show at all (w/ CSM or without). Conclusion: CsmVideoDxe is not helpful.

I guess for me, Im happy to boot without CSM and have everything look pretty, if I had an issue, Id swap to with CSM, I have to do the same to boot windows legacy anyway, so no issue for me, for others it may be i guess.

Yes. It is nice to know there is a way to get readable verbose output when you need it.

Yes.

The new theme in my pack used PNG icons instead of ICNS icons. Have to rename .png to .icns for Clover to recognize. I will create a theme for stretch screen later.

With CSM mode in 4530s, does your 1080p screen shows full resolution on Clover screen, or only 800x600?

Neither. It is 1024x768.

Try the theme here:

non-S = native resolution
S = stretched resolution

Yup. Although I prefer the bluemac theme. Both of these themes suffer from one problem, however. The indication of selection is too slight, and one cannot determine at a glance which icon is selected. Only by moving the selection can it be determined what you're going to get after you hit enter.
