Anybody have any luck trying this with 10.9?

After opening Terminal and typing "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE", nothing happens after relaunching Finder..

Anybody else experience this?

The OP says defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES not defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

Ok I found out that 10.9 requires a different command in Terminal (defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true), then the "killall Finder" command...

At that point, I can't seem to locate the com.apple.systemprofiler.plist file within library/preferences..

Any help would be appreciated!

Weird thing is it ended up working fine for a friend's system, but after creating a new partition and performing a fresh install of Mavericks - this is all I get after opening up the com.apple.systemprofiler.plist



Thoughts?

First, great mod. Thanks a lot for sharing this guide.

This is the next issue I'm trying to solve. Different display images. In theory there should be a way to make your mac think the 2nd display is an Apple 24 inch LED Monitor and then replace that image with your new monitor. But at this point I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Anybody else have any ideas that would be great. [...] Thanks

First post but I'm lurking here since years. I happen to have a 24" LED ACD and managed to get a different image into ATM for my 2nd monitor, and then added to he names. Attached is an intermediate result. Its still not perfect though.. would like to match the image sizes, and the 2nd, smaller lines in the description, i.e „19 Zoll LCD 2003 (1280 x 1024)” for the Sony...

I'm on 10.8.5 german (on a real Mac Pro Early 2009, hope thats not a prob here ) so to complete modding the monitor part of ATM is the only goal for now. Interested in any new insights, and any progress regarding handling different images.

and for some having trouble seeing invisible files in Mavericks, the Terminal command that finally worked for me was:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true
killall Finder

Mod about this Mac is entirly cosmetic. It is only a user interface, software that detects particular hardware does so from the hardware within the computer.
