Hello.

Thank you for the reply.

Regarding audio. After the reboot, it still didn't work. I did install the ethernet driver. :)

Did you reboot without USB? I thought cannot do that because you didn't do the boot loader fix

Yes I did booth WITH USB :)

I followed your guide (thanks again!) and rebooted with the USB attached. I booted into the USB installer as per the other instructions... unmounted the new install... The terminal code would not work though... I did not use tony's terminal command (though the path is about the same). I used yours (the one in this guide).

the msg I saw in the terminal was something like:
dd: Volume/USB/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY

Any clues, hints, tips or suggestions would be nice :)

FIRST --- I WOULD LIKE THANK MSLILY and REHABMAN!
and of course
TONYMACX86 and the entire community!

Life changers! Yes, you all are!

OK -- back to business :)

The response in this thread (or ML laptop forum) is overwhelming.

I joke :D Pretty quiet today... at least in my threads!

STATUS:
1. DONE! I don't know why this works, but it works.

WHAT I DIDN'T DO:
1. Did not create brightness key kext. Eh. Maybe later. I'm ok for now.

2. I was unable to get the terminal code to work. Here is a copy and paste from the guide:

When I rebooted, I selected the USB installation as instructed. I unmounted the new ML install partition via Disk Utility. I tried to enter the code in the terminal, but got a msg... No such file or directory.

I rebooted again and this time selected the new ML install. I did NOT use and boot tags or anything. It works!

3. I'm still waiting for the wifi card... So... I didn't install that.

4. I did not install the Mieze's RealtekRTL8111.kext for ethernet support. I should probably do that now.

PROBLEMS/ISSUES
1. OK. So... I still have not looked into the VoodooHDA issue. This might be important to some, but I am considering a USB solution... though it would be nice to get audio working. We'll see... for now... not a priority for me. However, if someone knows the answer to this question, please share:
[h=3]Post Multibeast Installation Error: VoodooHDA kext not installed correctly. Next steps?
When I launch the Voodoo app/controller in the system preferences, it says NO VoodooHDA devices found.

2. BLUEtooth
The blue setup assistant keeps popping when I log in to ML. Looking into the Bluetooth preferences, I see there is no way to turn Bluetooth off. It's grayed out/not clickable. Odd. When I get the new wifi card it will be gone anyway... but odd. I really would like to turn bluetooth off. Anyone know how? I'll have to look for a solution later.

NEXT STEPS:

1. Testing. :)
2. Maybe add the brightness kext.
3. IF ALL IS WELL, I will post an updated version if the guide with my comments/added details :)

to help patch your boot loader, you can open DISK UTILITY in Mac OSX-->click your mac os partition-->click the "Info" button on menu. This will show your Mac OS X partition information.

Pay attention to the letters followed by "Disk Identifier". That's the number you should use

For example, if the letters following "Disk Identifier" is : disk0s5, then you should use 5

In case you messed up during USB preparation, which name you used when you did the unibeast preparation? If you used anything other than "USB", then you should change the "USB" in /Volumes/USB/usr/standalone/ to something you used

It should be Volumes/USB/...... instead of Volume/USB....

Sorry for the mistake. I corrected in the guide to help others

Thank you so much! :)

That worked. No problems.

Sound still does not work, though (it seems). I will re-read this thread.

So...

1. After the multibeast installation for my machine, I saw a system error saying VoodooHDA did not install properly. Though others experienced this, I couldn't find a solution.
--- Any remedy? I couldn't find any.

2. When I launch the VoodooHDA pref pane I get a message: No VooDooHDA devices detected.
--- ?

While searching, I came across this page:
http://www.osx86.net/files/file/1194-voodoohda-2-8-4-pkg-installer/

There I saw this:
And ....

If VoodooHDA doesn't work, try to make VoodooHDA.kext/Contents/info.plist as below, and rebuild kernelcache.
IOPCIClassMatch
0x284b8086place here deviceID of your sound card (Chipset HDA device, not a codecID!)
or
IOPCIClassMatch
0x04030000&0xffff0000
IOPCIPrimaryMatch add two lines.
0x284b8086
add deviceID of your sound card (Chipset HDA device, not a codecID!)

Anyone know if this might work and if so... can someone walk me through this process? I'd gladly try to learn.

1) delete anythings in /Extra that relate to audio. Actually you should have nothing in /Extra/Extensions/
2) check your audio device ID and vendor ID in windows 8 (just make sure you have exact the same as I have, sometimes the parts are different even for same model, like wifi and audio). My Device ID is 0x0282
3) Re-install voodooHDA with multi beast
4) Run DISK UTILITY to fix disk permissions

If you have exact same audio device, there is no reason the voodoo 2.8.4 won't work. But it you want, you may try tp patch AppleHDA as RehabMan mentioned in earlier of this thread

#1. Nothing in Extra... well no audio.
#2. Will do that in a few (just woke up)
#3... Should I:
- Reinstall via multibeast?
- If so, should I only select the voodoohda driver in MB? Or do I also have to select the DSDT FREE/USER DSDT option as well?

Last night I put the VoodooHDA kext on the desktop and reinstalled it with Kext Wizard. No luck.
#4. ok

:)

If you install with MultiBeast, just select VoodooHDA 2.8.4, do not select anything else

Alternatively, you can install the voodooHDA kexts attached in my last post with kext wizard. make sure to install it into /S/L/E

And remember, don't use USB to boot your system. You must use HDD boot loader to reboot
