First Post -
I've been using ML 10.8.5 since it came out.
Downloaded Mavericks.
Followed instructions to create USB Mavericks boot thumb drive.
Copied Multibeast, Kexttool, ALC889a.fix.kext, ApplePCIIDE.kext, to thumb drive (these files can be found here on this site)
ALC889a.fix.kext will "fix" 5.1 sound on the mb integrated sound chip
ApplePCIIDE.kext will enable you to use an IDE DVDRW - leaving all of your SATA ports open for HDD use.
Before moving forward - since I'm old school - I fixed what TonyMac fixed.back to so I don't have to manually input crap at boot.
Opened terminal, navigated to /Volumes/<usb drive name>/Extra
changed GraphicsEnabler=yes
changed PCIRootUID=1
saved and exit
made copy of my /Volumes/<primary hdd disk>/Extra directory to timemachine drive.... just in case.
Boot into Unibeast and proceeded with dirty install (no formatting, just install it over ML)
install success
reboot (change bios back to Hackintosh friendly setting)
boot unibeast stick, then select hdd - boot to desktop.
Back to system settings and allow running programs from "anywhere"
Run multibeast - no DSDT settings required, choose Apple RealTek driver, PCIRoot fix, non-DSDT 889a sound (which install HDAenabler).
After done, kick off kext utility.
install ApplePCIIDE.kext and ALC889a.fix.kext
reboot machine without unibeast (yes, it worked on a 2TB hdd)
put back smbios.plist and chameleon.boot.plist
reselect sound source - works like a champ.
check network - works like a champ
boot once more.
Update Avast, Reinstall Jjava 6 JRE (for Adobe CS), Update Dropbox, Update GoogleDrive, open Mail and reindex mail content.
And wala - done.
Total time: 1hr 22 minutes. (45 minutes for Mavericks install)
Verdict:
Mavericks is better than SL and ML - and the multi-monitor support is kick butt. So good - worth the upgrade even if were the only improvement.
Everything works (sleep, hibernate, and auto wake-up).
All in all - this version of OS X is the best yet.
This gets TonyMac a beer, some pizza, and a donation.
