NVIDIA GT610 - 10.8 Fix

just bought one of this card an asus silent 610 2GB, thought it would work, it doesn't.

what about 2GB the first post if for 1GB only ?

is there anything new with 10.8.3?

right now i'm wondering if i should keep this card and patch my system, or maybe return it for a 640 which should be more compatible...

KEEP the ASUS GT610 2GB Card, IT Does Work !! With the right modified Kext.

When I used the modified Kext from the OP (first post) I got a KP. It only works for 10.8.0 or 10.8.1

Then I looked through the thread and found the corrected Kext for 10.8.2 and it worked beautifully.

Thanks to Ruktosk (post #22 of this thread) His modified kext for 10.8.2 worked.

NVIDIA GT610 - 10.8 Fix

Just for your info: I did install 10.8.3 from scratch and my GT610 worked out of the box (GA-B75M-D2H/Pentium G8xx/HD video disabled in bios/fake smbios profile set to iMac 12.1/GraphicsEnabler=NO). Nevertheless, I had to boot with -x when running the installer, but when the system installed and the box rebooted I got full resolution and CI/QE working without patching any kexts (using 21" monitor on DVI out).
However, HDMI out doesn't work - I didn't have time yet to patch my DSDT and I think that the problem is there (or maybe I should have used macmini profile??)

Be advised that if you are installing form 10.8.3 from scratch you will not have any issues, card is supported OOB.

So if installing from 10.8.3 no need for this thread! Only Previous versions of ML which you most likely will not have if you've made a new Unibeast drive.

I also was able to install the combo update from 10.8.2 and restarted without modifying any kexts and it worked fine. However, my audio (ALC662) stopped working and the updated 10.8.3 modified kext for it did not recover my sound. So I just decided to do a clean install with my updated unibeast USB stick, and now everything is working again (video and sound). Again, did not have to modify kext as you pointed out for my GT610.

Can somebody tell me if both VGA and HDMI works together w dual screen?

thank you guys.

VGA is not supported.

I couldn't get any video. The monitor stayed on, but it was just a black screen. I tried all 4 ports and same black screen.

This is an odd card. It is a Galaxy GT 610 MDT That supports 4 DVI displays trough a pair of pigtail adapters with 2-DVI connector on each pigtail.

Here is the newegg description:

I thought it had two DVI ports, but they are a weird DMS59 connectors that the pigtails plug into.

Any thoughts?

I really don't know if that card would work. I think you would be safer using this one : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130815

Can you exchange them?

Unfortunately, I'm way past the return date. I just bought it for a test video card as I had sold my previous one. It had a rebate and cut the barcode out and sent it in immediately. I didn't even open it and test it.

Thanks for help. I has hoping there could be some sort of test I could try, as it seems to be working, it just shows an active black screen. Maybe some way to switch which one is active or something.

Whenever I get ambitious, maybe I'll plug it into my hackintosh rig along side my GTX 650 and see if it picks it up. I think I have 4 monitors with DVI, so maybe I can connect all 4 at once and say a couple of prayers. lol

Thanks again, and in the mean time I open for any tests to try.
