[SUCCESS] Seakers Build: GA-H77-DS3H, i5-3570, MSI GT640, Yosemite
This is my first hackingtosh build. Well that is not quite right. I had a try several years ago but that was more or less just playing around and was not really successful. So this is my first complete build and I am quite happy that everything tourned out so well.
About three years ago I got my first apple pc: A Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2010) which is still running without any problems and I have nothing to complain about. That was my first step into the "Apple-World". I then got a Mac Mini as a Media Center in my living room.
One of my hobbies is photography and the second hobby is designing and programming of websites and applications. For both I had the idead to get a more powerful machine than my macbook pro with less costs but the comfort of "OS X". I found this board / website and have read quite a while.
During the installation process I have noticed that I mad a small mistake in buying the i5-3570 and not the i5-3570k. But luckily the smaller integrated graphics card did a goog job and everything worked fine with the CPU. I then tried to install a XFX Radeon HD 5670 for some weeks. Although I had the help and input from KNNSpeed (Thanks to you for your help) we did not manage to get my graphics card fully working. I then decided to switch to the GT640 (Why GT640: I do not need much GPU Performance as this is not a gaming computer. The software I use does not need that much graphics power) which worked flawlessly out of box.
To make a dual boot system on a separate hard drive / ssd is pretty simple.
With the OSX drive as the primary boot device the system boots into chamaeleon which detects the windows installation and lets you choose which one you want to boot. If you do not enter anythin (or press any key) the system is automatically booting OS X.
What is working:
// Update:
I have now two displays working with the graphics card. both connected via DVI.
// Update 2:
Since one week I have upgraded two a dual-boot system with Windows7 installed on a separate SSD which works like a charm. I also have installed a second 1TB HDD for windows data.
// Systemupdate 10.8.4
Installed update from AppStore, Reboot, Reinstall Audio drivers, reboot -> completed. Everything works fine.
// 10.8.5 Supplemental Update 1.0
Installed update from AppStore, Reboot, Reinstall Audio drivers, reboot -> completed. Everything works fine.
// 10.9 Installed Mavericks with a clean install without any problems. After installation, install drivers for audio and network, reboot and everything works fine.
// Installed 10.10 with the newest version of Unibeast and Multibeast. No special options during boot necessary. Everything works without any tricks.
Best regards,
Seaker

Installation
- Create UniBeast Mavericks USB drive according to the Guide on TonymacX86
- Modify BIOS if settings are different
Code:VT-d: Disabled SataMode: AHCI
- Bootflag "-x" to get to the Installation // Not Bootflag vor Mavericks-Installation
- After installing Mountain Lion use bootflag "-x" to get to the logon screen // Not necessary with Mavericks-Installation
- Using Multibeast and install audio driver, atheros ethernet driver and AppleACPIPlatform Rollback for 10.8 (refer to Multibeast Screenshot) (If you install 10.8.3 you do not need to install the rollback feature).
- Shutdown, Install GT640, Reboot with boot flag "GraphicsEnabler=No"
- Edit org.chameleon.Boot.plist and add the following code
Code:<key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>No</string>
- Reboot -> Finished
To make a dual boot system on a separate hard drive / ssd is pretty simple.
- Disconnect OSX Harddrive and basically every other hard drive which is in the pc because windows wants to put its data on Device 0 (at least some system boot data).
- Connect only the new Windows drive
- Install Windows 7 like a normal PC
- Connect OSX drive and make it the primary boot device in BIOS.
With the OSX drive as the primary boot device the system boots into chamaeleon which detects the windows installation and lets you choose which one you want to boot. If you do not enter anythin (or press any key) the system is automatically booting OS X.
What is working:
- AppStore / iCloud
- Sleep Mode
- OpenGL
- Front-Audio / Backpanel-Audio
- USB2 (Frontpanel and Backpanel)
- 2 Display Setup
