Iv'e noticed in the last few installs Mt Lion takes up 3 to 4 time the hard drive space and thats on a clean install. It used to only use about 6.25 Gigs of hard drive space now without any programs or apps no multibeast it uses 23 to 24 gigs of HDD space and that on a SSD or Mecanical HDD. I use the Activity Monitor and a App called Daisy Disk to check the amount of space its using. Mt Lion used to only use about 8 to 9 gigs of space with ALL my programs and apps installed. I will be Thankful for any help you guys can give me.

That's normal....

But if you want "remove 1 gig of useless junk" then go download the app: "monolingual"

That software will scan and remove all "useless language that you do not speak"......obviously you have to select the language pack you don't want to keep on your mac.

I remove most of it except, english and spanish..and few other language and it litteraly remove over 1 gig of language file :)....yay...

Sorry but 24 gigs of HDD space used on a clean install is not normal the SDD I'm using now with all my apps installed is only using 8.85 gigs of hard drive space total now thats normal. As I said before even after a clean install with no apps no MultiBeast no anything its showing 24+ gigs space being used. why I'm concerned is I normally use the Intel SLC SSD 20 gigs for my Mt Lion main drive now I get the warning drive is near full. Thank you for you help.

I have seen this and was concerned. If you clone that drive to another partition and check the space consumed before you boot into the newly cloned partition, you will find the anticiapted 7 to 8 GB used.
It appears that at times (the conditions I have not identified specifically). Then most times once you boot into the clone you will find the size to be 23 to 24 GB. Apparently the OS is also counting the space required to save the entire contents of memory to disk as used space.

Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Have fun

I found out why my OS is using so much space. It was a large 17 gig file called a (Sleep Image) file thats not critical to have on your Mac so I deleted it and now with my apps and all my programs installed I'm using 8.02 gigs of HDD space. I researched it before I got rid of it. Thanks for all of you good peoples help. Daisy Disk showed me where the file was located.
