What do you mean by "rolling back appleACPIplatform.kext" ? how should i do that ? I tried an update from 10.8 to 10.8.2 and i got stuck on the apple logo...

How I solved my problem with 10.8.2 spinning wheel while booting is I removed the

"System/Library/Extension/FakeSMC/Contents/PlugIns/OemSupport.kext"

After restart all ok.

Don't try replacing "System/Library/Extension/AppleACPIplatform.kext" this will give you a kernel panic even with permission, well for me it did. Even with kernel panic you can still log in with boot -x without the kernel panic and replace it with the original kext.

I did notice for 8.1 I had a like 1 minute delay in loading the login items in the preference app, after the 8.2 update no more delay.

how and when do you remove this kext? is this after you have installed multibeast and installed the fakesmc package? then you press -x in which sceen? and how exactly do you remove the kext?

can someone please write up a step by step from the beginning on how to fix this problem? im new to all of this and im not really a computer wiz so some of this is hard for me to understand. i just want to be able to use logic pro on my desktop so i can make some music 8)

as of now im actually starting over and updating my bios to uefi and then trying to do the install again.

I had this issue as well. Now seems to be resolved with 10.8.2

Simply don't install the FakeSMC Plugin—which is not required—and everything's fine.
I installed ML today and got stuck too, wondering wich was the guilty, having ticked many things. Second time, I chose only the mandatory kexts and all went fine.
Still have to install the GTX670 and figure out how to manage dual screen, but at least I can boot.

I dont find FakeSMC folder when i went to single user mode.

FYI : I am trying to install fresh ML installation with 10.8.2 and it got stuck with spinning wheel.

Let me knw how to solve it?

successfully installed ML 10.8.2 but after multibeast and if i try to reboot, it stuck at white screen.. any idea?
