Save to Update to 10.8.2?

Just updated and it boots with an infinte spinning circle.
So, i booted in safe mode (-x) and i got in, so right now i just gotta do some damage control and gotta find out what went wrong.
Else from that, seems to be working.

I'm having the same issue, wheni boot in verbose mode (-v) where it stops doesn't make the issue obvious to myself. I'll try to type it out in a bit, and post a photo, as a screenshot isn't possible.

Well, tried reinstalling FakeSMC (also threw in a new system definition) and I still get a halt on Kernel Extensions in backtrace.
(Attached an image, sorry about the blurriness and size)
Trying to Google an answer, if someone else know how to fix this or got a suggestion, id be really glad to hear about it.

Polymira. Using an ivy bridge board with sandy bridge CPU?

Deleted OemSMBIOS.kext, repaired permission and cache. Got kernel panic instead.
Safe mode, reinstall OemSMBIOS.kext (FakeSMC Plugins-Motherboard Plugins), back to square One.
So, something is fishy with OemSMBIOS.kext.

Veterans, gurus and other superior beings of knowledge, any ideas?

**edit**
Got it working now. Removed the kext, got same kernel panic. READ what the kernel panic came from. (Thanks Khaibit! Also thanks for the nice little tut you threw together.)
In my case AppleTyMCEDriver.kext gave me some grief, removed it, repaired perm/clear cache and it was all working again.
Btw. Radeon 6850/6870 gives white screen in safe mode, so you got to use the motherboards GPU (if it have one).
Thanks for the help people, really appreciated it!

Actually...seems like were not the first ones..

Going to try that out right now. Brb.

For anyone who is having this issue, it's related to the OemSMBIOS plugin for FakeSMC, and can be fixed by:

  1. Boot in to safe mode (-x), your system should boot this way if you're having this crash
  2. Open Terminal, and type "sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/OemSMBIOS.kext /Users/youraccountname/" (replacing youraccountname with the appropriate account name ;) )
  3. Still in Terminal, type "sudo diskutil repairpermissions /" followed by "sudo kextcache -system-caches" (or repair permissions and update kext caches in any other way you prefer)
  4. Reboot.

This method will move the offending plugin to your home directory in case you need to put it back for some reason. An update to FakeSMC in the future will probably fix this plugin, but for now it's a workaround. If you're still crashing after these steps, a look at your crash log to determine the source of the KP will help in diagnosing.

I have the exact same messages when I boot into verbose mode as the screenshot above. However, when I boot up into safe mode I get a white screen with the cursor... nothing more.

I'm going to try the above steps with the integrated graphics instead my Radeon 6870 and see if this works out...

**edit** - Put my system to sleep and woke up at the logon screen in safe mode. I don't have the mentioned file on my machine ... the FakeSMC.kext only has "MacOS and Resources" directories inside.

**edit 2** - Installed FakeSMC and the Hardware/Radeon plugins via the newest MultiBeast for Mountain Lion. THEN followed the above instructions and all is well in the world!!
