** macOS Sonoma Installation Mini-Guide **
Please do not quote this post in its entirety; post a link or excerpt instead

Introduction:
Fortunately, macOS Sonoma (kernel version 23.x.x) is fairly straightforward to install. But regrettably, the Broadcom WiFi modules we use are no longer supported. Broadcom Bluetooth is still supported, but we need to use Intel WiFi or USB WiFi.

In this guide I will discuss only the Intel WiFi option. Instructions for USB WiFi can be found by searching the web for Chris1111.

I followed your mini-Guide a while ago. However, my WiFi stopped working a couple of weeks ago. (I have Ethernet so I procrastinated posting for help.)

I am using the latest alpha version of the AirportItlwm-Sonoma kext.

What do I need to do now?

I just installed the latest AirportItlwm 2.3.0 alpha, and it's working properly on my Z390 Designare.

In your screenshot we can see two copies of CPUFriendDataProvider, and both are enabled. We should enable only one. This may not have any impact on AirportItlwm, but it should be corrected anyway.

For AirportItlwm, let's have a look at:
  • IORegistryExplorer -> The section pertaining to Intel WiFi
  • System Information -> WiFi

Hopefully, this is the information you asked for...

All of this looks correct.
  • Is the WiFi icon enabled in menu bar?
  • When clicking that icon, do a list of SSIDs appear?
  • And is it able to connect to your SSID?
Yes. Yes. Yes.

NB: the Tx Rate is low.

I have two systems (Z690 & Z790) which only work on 2.4GHz with the onboard AX211 WiFi card. 5GHz connects to my WiFi router but do not get Internet access.

My WiFi router is a Netgear RX120 (bat wing) supporting WiFi 6. I've gone through all the router settings, but nothing jumps out at me that I need to change.

BTW, Bluetooth does not work, either.

Can any of you help with my problem as stated above. TIA.

On my Designare Z390, the on-board Intel module is able to connect at 5GHz. My router is configured to support both WPA2 and WPA3. I believe AirportItlwm does not support WPA3 at this time, so the router must be configured to allow WPA2.

My router is broadcasting one SSID, for which all 3 frequencies are enabled (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz). AirportItlwm selects the appropriate frequency by itself.

Regarding Intel Bluetooth, please try switching the order of kexts:

  1. BluetoolFixup
  2. IntelBTPatcher
  3. IntelBluetoothFirmware

Still no joy with Bluetooth.

I can connect to the router at 5GHz. Unfortunately, I have no Internet access. Might it be I have the wrong SSDT?
