Ok this is the most old legacy install, but a really cool old device with an Intel DQ45CB and core 2 quad CPU recently got revived in my household and I was trying to run a SL install on it. It's the only install method that I've gotten a boot disk to boot on (I updated BIOS to 133, the latest. Set to optimized defaults and turned on drive AHCI and UEFI and USB boot devices before attempting. Wow that was a really hard part because it's so old Intel deleted all the BIOS and flash utility, but Archive.org and FreeDOS came to the rescue on that step.)

So I realized my old IvyBridge iBoot disc wasn't going to cut it from my Z77 build. I burned the legacy 2.7.2 and the Intel 3.30 iBoot discs and both of these got me to the iBoot screen. No matter what flags I try, including ACPI=off, I get a KP citing ACPI driver not loaded. I'm not sure how to proceed and while I can see some forum posts with DQ45CB boards trying to upgrade beyond High Sierra, I seem to be stuck before I can even open the installer, including having tried Sierra and Mountain Lion usb installers. Those freeze at the underlined hyphen with the occasional odd single frame glitch apple logo load screen as it crashes and boot loops to get my hopes up.

Currently my build is actually an old NewTek Tricaster basic analog SD model, ca.2008  I know I won't be able to use many of its features under OS X but am hoping to see if I can turn on any of these Analog Devices converters without the PCIe SOC board. The original WINXP32 install with the switcher software is working 100%, and more realistically I'll just boot that install to use the front panel. I have removed that SOC and the graphics card for the install process. The FP headers for HDA, 1394, and USB3.0 are all glued to the board, so I just turned the audio and 1394 off in the BIOS.

How should I go about building an install for something this old?? I guess I only ever tried the Z77 and Z97 boards I have and never had many problems like this. A lot of the build info for these core 2 systems seems elusive now. (did the modbot eat them??)
