I've upgraded my monitor and found out that the iGPU in my i7-4970k won't push 4k60. Can someone point me to the cheapest possible video card that I can order in Canada that'll let me do 3840x2160 @ 60Hz? This PC is purely for audio work but it would be nice if my DAW scrolled smoothly.

From my research it appears to be a 710-1-SL. I can't seem to find this at a reasonable price and I can't figure out if other GT710's are compatible.

Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Most GT 710s have only HDMI 1.4a and will at best produce 4K @ 30Hz. Better to get a Nvidia card with DP 1.2 output. Does your 4K monitor have DP input ? If so it should work with a supported Nvidia Kepler card. Quadros can be found at very low prices.

You can order this one from Ebay.ca. The DP output is 1.2 version and works from High Sierra through Big Sur.

That one says out of stock. But thanks! Now I feel much better and know what to be looking for. There are similar K420's available. Do you know if there are any compatibility issues that could exist with certain models I should be looking out for?

Avoid any Quadro cards that don't have the "K" in the model name. There are Quadro 600s for example that are not Kepler based. They won't work in a hack. They are one gen older than the K600s. Fermi based.

As mentioned previously, these older Kepler cards won't work in Monterey without extensive patching. I don't think that anyone in audio production is using Monterey yet anyway. Too many bugs and incompatibilities to use it for audio work right now.
