Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

@CaseySJ

I have installed the Aero G into a Fractal Design Meshify 2 case with these front panel ports. I also installed BIOS F6a.

I use this IOGear Sharing Switch that my mouse and keyboard are plugged into.

I can boot without any problems with the switch plugged into either of the front USB 3.0 ports, and with a SSD drive in a USB housing plugged into the Gen 2 Type-C port at the same time, or one at a time.

The USB 3.0 next to the reset button is not active once booted into Monterey. I'll need to do some remapping if I want to use it.

Is this the type of configuration causing you booting problems?
Thanks for testing the USB switch! I have this USB switch that I use for connecting a single keyboard and mouse to two computers. It works with front panel ports on Z390 Designare and Z490 Vision D, but not on Z690 Aero G...

In the build guide (Post 1) please have a look at the updated Step 9 for details on switching on all USB ports except HS14 for Intel Bluetooth. Then all of the USB 3 ports (including both on the front panel) will work.

For Mac Pro 7,1 since we don't actually have AVX512 (when E cores are enabled). Do you think we potentially run into some software issue where it might try to call AVX512? Hopefully the code was written in a way that it can query CPU capability and not call on avx512 for our CPU.

I vaguely recall that someone used Photoshop to test for crash related to missing AVX512, but a crash didn't happen. I could be mistaken...

I replaced the Intel WiFi/BT card with the mac-native Fenvi card, so I was using your SSDT-UIAC-Z690-AERO-G-INTEL.aml and need HS14 for BT.

I added your SSDT...ALL-PORTS.aml and checked XhciPortLimit. That activated the front panel USB3 port that wasn't active, but I have now apparently lost HS14 and BT. Is there a way to get ALL-PORTS so HS14 is included?

Thanks...

There are several Titan Ridge add-in-cards on the market, but I believe you have the Gigabyte's GC-Titan Ridge. We recommend NVM33 from Designare Z390. All of the details are in the Gigabyte Z390 build thread. Please have a look at the Quick Reference to Mini-Guides and Micro-Guides at the top of that build guide. Section 8 contains all Thunderbolt-related references, including a link to the Repository.
Got It.

Flashing now...

Regarding the failure of BIOS to load with a USB Sharing Switch plugged in...

I have done some testing with the USB Switch plugged into the front and rear USB ports and have some non-conclusive results.

I have found that if I have the Switch plugged into a rear USB3 port, and have a USB3 thumb drive plugged into a port on the switch, on a start from power off the BIOS runs normally. However, if I do a restart with the USB3 thumb drive plugged into the switch, sometimes the BIOS does not run. Just a black screen.

Having my keyboard and mouse plugged into the Switch is never a problem.

So BIOS non-loading also occurs with my Switch plugged into a rear USB3 port with a USB3 thumb drive plugged into the Switch.

There is definitely something odd going on. When I get some time I'll try to do some more testing to nail down exactly what is going on with my Switch.

GC-Titan Ridge V2 card flashed with NVM33. Do I now need to use a specific SSDT?

I now see the Thunderbolt Bus within System Information however. I am not able to connect any devices.

I have tried Universal Audio interfaces, OWC Thunderbolt 4 hub and a G-Tech TB3 Hard Drive.

USB C devices also do not work.

I have the 5-pin Thunderbolt header cable connected.

Tony.

You might need to warm boot for Thunderbolt to work
