This benchmarks are ridiculous. For a serious apps we must use serious benchmark. Mac mini M1 is good for home and amateur use. For professional video editing much better is 2019 MacPro or hackintosh with powerful Intel CPU. Depending on what you to do. OK You can easily made video from holidays but professionals have much higher requirements.
Max is a professional video editor using FCP X. He spent $15,000 on his 2019 Mac Pro. He wouldn't be selling it and switching to M1 for his work if it's only about as good or a little faster. He shoots with professional cameras that cost much more than 15,000 dollars. He's basing his decision on day to day experience with his MP and M1 Mac mini. The first M1 Apple released last November will be the slowest. It's just entry level, new ones with 12 or more cores are on the way this year.

You must have missed every review on any of the M1 Macs...

It seems that most everyone is asking why Apple made the new 24" iMacs look the way they do. The answer is really simple. They know you can use any M1 Mac for professional use, it's that good. They are intentionally making the latest iMac release look like something you'd find in a teenage girls bedroom, not in a professional's office. See the above screenshot for evidence of this. Here's another screenshot from a promo video by Apple. Looks like she is doing some homework online.

They want professionals to wait for the M1X iMacs coming this year. They have had delays due to supply chain problems and couldn't get those ready for release in April. The ASi Mac Pro is going to take even longer to get to market so in a sense the new, in the pipeline, 32" M1X iMac is kind of like the 2017 iMac Pro all over again.

The new larger iMac should be fine to use for serious professional work. When the 2022 ? Mac Pro refresh is available, video and audio Pros will be buying those because nothing else in the PC world will come close to the performance those offer. That could have 16 to 32 cores and the option for at least 64GB+ of unified memory. Also many more USB4/TH3 ports as well. Maybe ten or more. The last two Mac Pro models have both been seen as dismal failures, neither has sold in the numbers Apple was expecting. This is their final chance to get it right. I think they finally will.

Apple's main intention is for professionals and prosumers to spend the extra money for these next new M1X Macs that will be a lot more capable than the current 24" M1 model they revealed last Tuesday the 20th. Hopefully they will be good long term investments we can use for the next 8-10 years.

Honestly, I don't have any problems with the colors. I actually like the Blue and Purple. For those who don't like the pastels, Silver is still available. The colored models may not be for everyone, but I do believe they will appeal to many people. I can easily envision many of the less traditional colors in retail stores in Soho here in Manhattan, replacing older iMacs.

The announcement that the new iMacs will be available next month gave me confidence that they are on top of the global chip shortage or, at least, able to manage it.

When Apple introduced the M1, they did say that it would be a two year transition. My guess is that everything is progressing on schedule and as planned. I expect to see the larger iMac with new Apple Silicon CPU/GPU within a few months and a new Mac Pro within a year. I also expect Space Gray to return with those models.

I added to my AAPL position after the Spring Loaded event.

I bought more shares before that when it was still at $120 and now it's up to $132. You really can't go wrong investing in Apple these days. Low risk, high reward.

Some facts . High End Top Intel or AMD CPUs are three times faster than M1 chip.
HighEnd top AMD/Nvidia GPU are ten times faster than M1 GPU chip

OK M1 chip is good but doesn't even come close to better Intel/AMD CPU/GPU.

Maybe Apple will make faster chip but Intel/AMD make faster chips every year.
Every year performance increases 20 to 30% or more.

Next is a price of the chip. Intel offer CPUs from 50$ to 2000$. We don't know the price of
M1 chip. Price & performance this is the clue. We can compare Intel-AMD in the same price class
because prices are known.
I don't known if M1 chip is a low , middle or high class price. One thing is certain - apple M1 are expensive.

I forgot to add that I expect that, unless used in as many devices as the current M1, the, as yet unreleased, next Apple Silicon CPU/GPU will be considerably more expensive simply due to the economies of scale. One of the main reasons Apple has decided to use the M1 on so many devices is that it allows them to place much larger orders with TSMC.

Try using an M1 Mac for a direct comparison for at least one week of real world experience of your own.
Then come back to this thread and report your findings. I'd be interested to hear about that.

Wait a minute... You're the one who said the benchmarks were ridiculous...

So, we gave you real world scenarios where M1 kicked Intel butt...

And, I still don't see any Intel or AMD CPU beating M1 in single core performance.

You are shifting the conversation from CPU performance to GPU performance. The M1 was never intended to compete on the level of 6900 XTs or RTX 3080s. It was intended to compete against the Intel IGPUs. The M1 is Apple's first SoC and will be their lowest end SoC.

You are severely underestimating the power of the Neural Engine which is responsible for much of the amazing real world performance. This is something that neither Intel nor AMD has.

Apple can design Apple Silicon specifically for macOS. When using Intel or AMD, macOS needs to be adopted for them.

I can't decide wether the yellow one, is Lemon, Banana or sunflower yellow!.
