The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Hi everyone!
A separate question. I'm thinking about my micro-tower replacement with further dGPU installing. I'm looking at two models:
Which one is better for BigSur and future OS updates? Which will be easier to configure properly? Which one has better compatibility with Hackintosh?
Is it important to choose between Gigabyte/Msi/Asus/Sapphire/e.t.c.? I mean Radeon Rx 5500XT (aw well as RX 580) can have different manufactures.
Thanks in advance.
I've had an issue with an MSI 5600XT card and some users have reported EVGA cards may not work without flashing the BIOS (ModMike states that in the beginning of this guide). I've had very good luck with Sapphire cards but I'm sure others work just as well.

See more information here regarding configuration and OS support: https://dortania.github.io/GPU-Buyers-Guide/modern-gpus/amd-gpu.html#native-amd-gpus

Anyone having issues with Amazon video on safari on Big Sur. I'm using the latest non beta EFI from the instructions. When I try to play the video, I get video unavailable message. Everything else is working perfectly.

BTW, great instructions. Thank you!

@ModMike I already installed Mojave a while back, and it all works great. The issue I'm having is with the Big Sur installation.

How many USB flash drives do I need? One or Two? When the guide says "
  1. Extract and copy the EFI folder you downloaded onto the EFI partition of the USB installer drive"
Was I supposed to create a separate EFI partition for one of the USB sticks? I made the exFAT partition on the hard drive but not on the one USB drive. The USB guide right before this step only asking for reformatting by erasing.

  1. Create a Big Sur install USB disk
How do I do this? Do I just download the Apple Big Sur installer and then select the USB drive instead of the hard drive? The Mojave install used Uni- or MultiBeast. (One of the two. I can't remember which one.) Also, is this install USB disk different from the USB that we copied the EFI into?

Thank you so much. Your guide has been such a huge help. I don't think I would've been able to do a hackintosh without it.

Hello. It would be better to have two different USBs and avoid Multibeast (one hundred %) and UniBeast usages. The first USB stick will be formatted as FAT32 with the uploaded EFI folder (it allows you to boot from), the second one is for Big Sur installer created via the stock terminal in OSx:
Bash:
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/BigSur
When the first USB is selected as the priority boot option, Clover/OC should display one more option (Install BS from the second USB)

BTW great instructions, thank you!
I can't play Prime Video either, this fix may help if you have an AMD DGPU installed. I have not tested it and its not listed as one of the DRM protected content the fix addresses.
Look for this Heading, its quite a ways down the thread.

@TheCyberConnect and @GoodBoris. One flash drive is always sufficient, you can format it using Disk Utility choosing Mac OS Extended (journal) with a GUID boot partition. It adds a UEFI partition you can mount, using EFI Agent or another Utility or terminal command, and then copy and paste @ModMike EFI folder there. He has great instructions on the first page with more in detail information.
Then Use the "create media" command you can search for that @GoodBoris mentions. Another way to go is listed in the OpenCore Install guide here:

Yeah, you are right!
Just.. I prefer to use as much native way as possible. USB creation via Terminal is Apple recommended way and such USB (without any third-party bootloaders) can be safely used in the real Macs.

@GoodBoris and @Leesureone thank you so much for all your help. I'm going to go with the 2 usb method because I have a dozen flash drives that I bought from Micro Center. I just wanted to check two things.

When I format the disk to Fat32. All I have to do is open disk utility, format it to MSDOS(FAT) GUID partition map. Then mount the EFI of the fat32 USB and place ModMike's EFI into the EFI partition. That is all I do with that flash drive. And then use the Terminal with Big Sur on a separate second flash drive. After that, I'm good to go. Does that sound right?

The second thing. Will OpenCore Big Sur installer have any problems overriding ModMike's previous Mojave install that I used UniBeast and Clover Configurator for? Will any personal data be deleted off the drive?

Again,
Thank you so much for all your help.

As far as flash drives go, seems like an unnecessary step to use two, I have about six USB boot drives set up for different OS and system configurations. In all the different forums I participate in and help support I can't think of anyone who else who does it this way but if it works for you then its all good. Looking for two USB drives to be able to load an OS just seems weird to me but it should/will work as you outline.

Always back up before upgrading to a different version of the OS or at the very least make sure your boot drive is functional. Data loss is always possible and a full back up where ever is the best insurance against a failed update.

Thank you, it looks like I already have shikigva=80 in config.plist as shown in the instructions :/
