I don't think there's anything else that stores that info on the panel itself that is accessible to anyone but the manufacturer.

Got it - I suppose this low usage could be possible though, yeah?
The rest of thing shows essentially zero usage (condition of connections, frame, screws on mount point, on and on)..

And the HP brand - for some reason makes me think it's more possible this might have been warehoused at a large/corporate type firm somewhere at some point, etc..

Anyhow - all speculation for fun - doesn't honestly matter much to me

If the general aspect looks ok, there's a higher chance of it being the real counter.

I think it is safe to say that you are keeping it?

Still waiting to hear back from the seller...

I'm certainly leaning that way mainly because I don't know what else to even do or try at this point.

Despite the dust behind the panel, the rest of it is so cherry that I think I'm going to be hard pressed to duplicate anything like this anywhere remotely close to this general price range.

I mean - if they'd sell an Ultrafine 5k that had "normal inputs", I'd consider it even despite the high price simply because it would presumably be possible to get one with no issues and would have a warranty, etc..

But - they don't sell that - So.... what to do, right?

True. You don't take much risks, since the part that almost always fails is the eDP card, and it's cheap enough to be worth replacing when it does.

It's a shame we can't find an enclosure out of China that is basically the Planar/Ilmaya enclosure..

That's a great, minimal, enclosure for the iMac panels, particularly if VESA mounting

(since Planar can't even make a stand that is level - incredible)

Stop me if we linked to this in here already, but did you ever see this awesome Polarcase 5k for the QQ2 panels?
Awesome!

I'm using two 4K panels vesa mounted on a two arms stand.

This case is nice, but it costs as much as one of my panel.

That wouldn't bother me at all - a HQ enclosure would be a nice to have for me honestly

That's a knock on this z27q for me.
The panel is very deeply recessed, which I really don't care for, and the plastic just has sort of a "medical equipment" vibe to it. It has a pretty non "high quality" aesthetic. They cheaped out big time on this aspect.

I don't mind having naked panels mounted on my desk, especially since I'm always in front of them and never behind. haha
