The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Update: Swapped out the 9700KF for a 9600K and the settings were finally available in BIOS. Edited the settings to match the ones outlined in this guide, fired up the macOS installer, but it was still getting stuck at the same line.

Figured because the line it was getting stuck at was in relation to NVMe, I would remove the M.2 drive and see what happens.

For the first time, it doesn't get stuck on that line. Now it gets stuck on another line

Update: We're in business! I gave up, because the 9600K wasn't working for me either and I was out of ideas. I switched back to the 9700KF and thought I'd give it one last go, and voila, it just worked. Actually, no it didn't just work -- I DID have to use “agdpmod=pikera” to display graphics (not sure why that wasn't helping me before), but everything seems to be running well so far.

Sadly I have nothing to help anyone else who might have the some trouble as I had. This caused me a full weekend of headaches, and I was literally about to give up. I guess simply removing the CPU and reinstalling it must have helped somewhere, somehow. But there you go. @Leesureone , thanks so much for your help. Indeed, I wouldn't have a working hackintosh if it wasn't for your "agdpmod=pikera" tip, and general support! I'll post a success story once everything is finalised and polished

I follow the guide for my new Hackitosh to use during Internet, movie viewing, writing and daily work.
All seems to work fine, with only a strange issue. The DVD reader sometimes, with a very random time, open and close the tray for days nothing, then in a one day many times.

Catalina 10.15.4, ASUS Z390-E Gaming, i5-9600K, 16GB Vegeance, Vega 64, Pioneer 103 DVD recorder.

Any idea?

Does the same thing happen with another operating system or is it just OSX? Is your keyboard triggering it too open maybe?

Friends.
I have a problem with the Clover boot update. I have the latest version of Clover (5.13.1) boot 5103. I can't upgrade to 5118. There is an incompatibility message, then the installation and finally the installation failed. Can someone direct me to solve this problem?

You can always wait for the next update. There are other users reporting other problems with this version after installation which may or may not happen to you. I'd suggest trying OpenCore, @ModMike has EFI folders posted on page one.

I'm making the switch to OC today from Clover 5118. So far, it will boot to a huge Apple logo with progress bar and then restart. I love the new Apple style GUI that Open Core now has.

I will add verbose to the .plist and see where I get stuck.

UPDATE: Can't seem to see where I get stuck. I am totally new to OC, and was trying to avoid it until I saw the improvements it has over Clover.

Anyone have an EFI for an Asus Z390-E Gaming board with iGPU for Open Core?

Thanks in advance

Great guide by the way!!

LAST EDIT: Been working on moving from Clover to OC yesterday since 7PM. Took a brief nap, and I ended up making a bootable Flashdrive, and got it installed. I made everything from scratch, specific for the Asus Strix Z390-E Gaming. If anyone wants to take a look, let me know.

I’ve been using the Z390 RS Gaming E for a while now. Both the E and the I run from the same OC setup perfectly now. I’m even using the same UIAC-USB.aml, both are great boards.

Good to know! I'm looking at building a mATX rig soon for comparison to the Mac Mini, but with more room.

I'm still learning more about the config and editing it. I want to add a Fenvi card to my setup now, and I need to research even more.

Some places I've read that the apple kexts in L/E will work out of the box, and others have said to inject.
You happen to have any idea?

This is an excerpt from the Home page by @Stork talking about the release of Catalina 15.5. L/E for non-approved kexts is no longer possible with recent versions of Catalina. See below.

In February 2020, Apple "clamped down" on non Apple approved kexts. So, update Lilu, WhatEverGreen and AppleALC, placing them in your /EFI/.../Clover/kexts/other/. Remove these kexts from the /Library/Extensions/ folder.

You can also read @ModMike take on it on the first page of this thread. It’s hidden under “ Spoiler” :The great kext schism. It used to be both were valid locations, not so much anymore and there really is no such thing as “out of the box“. It is much easier to maintain kexts inside the bootloader though.
