Asus X299 - Support

Hello!
I would like to buy Asus x299 Sage / 10G for my hackintosh but I can't understand if this motherboard has cooled M.2 slots. Any help?
Thank you!
nope
But one M.2 slot is 90° so the NVMe stand still.I think it's way better than under a GPU ;)

@GovtDoctor:

This is the kernel version of my Mojave installation that has been so stable for me: 18G87.

Now, if your kernel version is different, then it might be that you have the same problem that @canyondust had (post 1766). If so, your 2080s may not be the problem.

I would think that the very last thing in troubleshooting you'd want to do is pull those 2080s out of your computer. You still might have to, but I thought I would share this bit of knowledge with you, hopefully in time before you pull them out.

It's possible that if you applied the very last security update for Mojave, and if your kernel version is different than mine, that might be the problem. I don't know what you could do to fix that however....other than re-install with a different version of Mojave and I think it might be hard to find.

Okay, not sure if that helped or not, but I hope it may. Good luck.

New custom loop, got rid of the previous.

2x Hardware Labs 360 GTS Slim rads
EKWB D5 Res/Pump RGB 140 Combo

9980XE Hits 74-76c on full load with an all-18-core OC @ 4.5Ghz. Will most likely push it to 4.6 since these rads are doing such a great job.

@izo1 we have the same liquid kit :)...a question about bios settings. I upgraded to Radeon VII and when pc boots i've ASUS logo very big and so for clover icons....how did you set 4Gdecode in bios? enabled with options?
I mean..."Above 4G decode" must be on with Sage 10G, then "First VGA 4G decode" is in Auto or what?

Nice. Yeah my previous setup was a janky dual EKWB Phoenix which was gutted and made into a custom loop, but a real custom loop is so much better. The GPU barely hits 51-54c on full load! These Hardware Labs GTS slim rads were recommended by some hardcore watercooling enthusiasts, and they were right on the money. With slim rads, you can run lower RPM fans in 120mm size (which have high static pressure) and have a very quiet system.

1. If CSM is disabled (and it should be) ASUS logo will be big and the "Press DEL to enter BIOS..." text at bottom will be big too. This is normal.

2. Clover icons should look normal with CSM disabled. Maybe your Radeon VII doesn't have the latest vBIOS which added EFI GOP as AMD released it after the GPU was released? ASRock has a version still up.

3. 4G Decode should be set to ON and on AUTO for "First VGA 4G Decode".

All AMD Radeon VIIs have the same vBIOS because it was a limited run card. AMD doesn't make them anymore.

Unfortunately AMD took down the page, which was here:

But you can use WayBackMachine to find it, but the file isn't there.

Check with GPU-Z to see if your vBIOS is v106, if it is, then it's the latest vBIOS.

Btw have you set the proper resolution for your monitor in the config.plist for Clover?

In AMD control panel i've this info:
BIOS version 016.004.000.038
So do i think to have the right bios version?

I can't understand if this motherboard has cooled M.2 slots

A PSA for users of workstation and "enthusiast" CPUs:

From the X99 and X299 mobo manuals I've looked at, the motherboard M.2 slots are usually connected to the PCH, not the CPU. To understand why this is a potential performance problem- the PCH also connects the USB bus, and many other system peripherals, but it has a single DMI x4 interface to the CPU (about the same bandwidth as PCI-e x4 used by NVMe). So if we imagine copying between the M.2 SSD and a fast USB 3 flash drive, since each can run close to full speed, we've already saturated the available bandwidth.

With a 44 lane or 48 lane CPU, there are almost always one or more CPU connected PCI-e slots available. And the adapter card is what, $20? It doesn't make sense to use the motherboard slot.

A few of the nicest boards do have one M.2 on the CPU, though. Or there may be a U.2 connector that is CPU-connected - these require an M.2 adapter that you can install into a drive bay. Unfortunately, the manual usually doesn't have a block diagram to make all this clear. If it says, "slot such-and-such is disabled when the M.2 is occupied," or similar, that indicates a direct CPU connection.
