The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Tried to upgrade from 32GB to 64GB of RAM tonight (Corsair 3200 2x32GB), and got stuck at the "OsxAptioFix3 reloc: no ++++++++" when trying to boot. Tried a few "slide=x" args, but no luck.

Prior to this, I ran memtest for hours, and it boots into Windows just fine. So I don't really suspect any issues with the RAM. Also updated to the latest BIOS for the Z390-I, to seemingly no ill effects as I am back with the original 32GB installed while I am typing this now.

I'm suppose I'm going to try the various other memory fixes and do some research, but, if anyone has any other ideas in the meantime, I'm all ears.

Up and running with 64GB. Changed to AptioMemoryFix, slide=0 and possibly specifying the SMBIOS memory as 4 x 16GB modules.

I say possibly because I was trying so many things to get the thing to boot with 64GB installed, I'm not yet able to say if that is 100% necessary. Found a thread on another site while scrambling for a fix in regard to mapping ram in Clover.

I will say the I tried specifying the modules in the config.plist as 2x32GB, but it would hang at the +++++. I'll have to test further.

Next step for is to spend some time to work on getting OpenCore running because it looks like there is more progress in many regards over Clover, such as AptioMemoryFix no longer being updated in Clover.

Two minor issues:
  1. every time that I login in Mac OS and then shutdown to log in Windows the BIOS time is changed to GMT time and it lose my timezone (GMT+1)
  2. Every time that I login I need to change my monitor refresh to 120hz and then 144hz otherwise I notice stuttering even if I have a free sync monitor

1. fixed adding a key file in windows register
2. still remains

  1. replace the EFI folder (in EFI partition on USB stick) with the one in CAT-DGPU-EFI-Salabasti (attached below) (Basically I ended up using the files from the original CAT-DGPU-EFI.zip, in addition with the stuff described here.)

hello!
Do all the ports in the video card work in your build? HDMI? DP?

I noticed that there is version of OCQuirks for Clover now, has anyone tried this?

After my recent upgrade experience with the state of Aptio*Fixes and Z390 boards, I think I'm going to give it a try prior to just jumping on the OpenCore bandwagon.

So everything seem to be working fine on 10.15.2 but recently I'm getting weird freezing issues. Not sure if it's the radenon rx 5700 xt causing the problems. My current setup is the exact same motherboard with a i7 9700k 16gb of ram 850 gold PSU with the gigabyte rx 5700 xt oc. I'm using 2 separate ssd one is a pny 120gb for osx and a 500 gb crucial for windows 10. I have the pny as the only and primary boot. Is there a way to check what's causing the freezing issues like a crash report? I will try reinstalling osx today and see if it was something I did wrong thanks. Usually it freezes or the mouse pointer gets glitched out it gets blurry and makes 3 transparent ones along with the loading colourful wheel then I can't click on anything or load anything. Thanks

You probably don't have native NVRAM with the Z390-I (nor do I), so I don't believe that crash reports will be available.

I will say that I'm on 10.15.2 on a pretty similar setup:
SMBIOS iMac19,1, 9900K (Corsair 240mm AIO water cooler) two Samsung NVME disks, Sapphire Pulse 5700XT all crammed into a tiny case and has been really solid. I did have have some recent issues getting the 5700XT working, and lately upgrading to 64GB of RAM.

I wouldn't rush off to do a "Hail Mary" OS reinstallation. Start by pulling things out (maybe just one disk at a time), if you have another video card maybe swap that out. Download a bootable memtest USB and run that for a few hours, etc, etc.. You get the idea.

Update your boot loader and kexts, verify you BIOS settings, and maybe post your EFI folder and/or plist config to see if anything stands out as problematic to anyone.

Is it safe to update kexts via hackintool because I know I did that but that gave me a error so I decided to do it via clover. And I will try my 710 gt as well. Hoping it's not the PSU or gpu because I did have freezing issues with drivers on Windows while running games. Or it might be the hdds but thanks I will look into it.

I have never used Hackintool to install kexts (it's an awesome tool for many purpose, but I have never used it for this purpose or updating Clover.

I just grab the latest releases from (the Kexts tab in Hackintool is great for this). Lately I've been building from source to stay on the bleeding edge of WEG and LILU, but the releases are generally very up to date.

After that, just mount the EFI volume and navigate to where my kexts live (/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/etc..), and delete the kexts that I'm replacing and copy over the new.

If I was to go and do a full install do I start off the guide with the regular gpuefi or do I use the catgupefi since I'm using the rx 5700.
