Make sure your Clover is up-to-date, and if that is updated you can just update like a normal Mac, then run ./install_downloads.sh after the update completes.

thank you, that worked like a charm

In order to make the install usb, you need your own mac, a working hackintosh, or borrow a mac/hackintosh from a friend. After that, follow Post #1 instructions.

hi @MacDaddy123 , can you explain the challenges/obstacles you found when updating from 10.14.4 to 10.14.5 and how did you solve them?
Thanks!

QUESTION: For updating 10.14.4 to 10.14.5 in HP Probook laptop that has followed this thread's guide, do I have to do anything special? or just normally update from the "Software Updare" in System Preferences? (BTW: I updated Clover to rev. 4920)

Interestingly, the installer--despite having the appropriate Voodoo kexts--insisted upon having both a USB mouse & keyboard; none of the integrated HID devices were recognized. This is not insurmountable, as external peripherals can be attached. It was also an incredibly, nightmarishly slow process just to boot into the installer. I did find that even without an external keyboard attached that, if I had a USB mouse plugged in, if I clicked fast enough it continue through the installer without a keyboard present.

I should back up just a bit here; I partitioned a thumb drive according to RehabMan's guide, having an EFI partition with the latest Cover installed. For my installer, I downloaded the latest macOS Mojave from Apple and used the patcher provided by dosdude1. I did this because my Intel HD3000 graphics are not natively supported in Mojave. Additionally, I copied relevant kexts from my live EFI boot partition to the EFI partition on my thumb drive; essentially creating an installer customized for my particular model ProBook.

My experience is that 10.14.5 is much smoother and more stable than 10.14.4 (was experiencing random lockups). Everything seems to work properly now.

Caveat: I'm installing the full update because I've elected to keep my drive as HFS+, rather than convert to APFS. Your mileage may vary.

Seeing is how I'm glad someone managed to find a way to make Mojave work with an Intel HD 3000 Graphics. However using Mojave with an Intel HD 3000 graphics is unsupported by this guide, and as you have stated prone to lockups and instability.

In sticking with the guide, using High Sierra or lower will provide a more native experience and less patching of system-level kexts and is not off-topic with this guide. If you want a much more stable macOS, you should use High Sierra or lower with this guide, and post any appropriate issues in that guide's thread. An example is the High Sierra ProBook guide thread located here.

Technically, running macOS is entirely unsupported on non-Apple branded hardware, correct? And I get that my setup isn't supported by the "official" guide here. Maybe we should have a guide for unsupported systems?

feel free to create your own guide

I am struggling to get USB working since upgrading to 10.11 - works fine in 10.10

HP Probook 6450b
Core i5-520m
USB2
5GB RAM
Intel HD Arrandale Graphics

Tried a mix of using my DSDT and not, using USBInjectAll and not, using USBInject in Clover config and not, FixUSB in CloverConfig and not. Feel like I am missing something very obvious/easy, any ideas to help?

I recently updated my BIOS and started facing some problems after updating, so I reset it to factory defaults. After the reset mac started crashing when kept on sleep(KP). So I decided to repair it using disk utility(I read somewhere that it might fix the problem). I wasn't sure how to get into safe mode so I used this command in terminal:

sudo nvram boot-args="-x"

After the reboot, instead of the apple logo it started showing a stop symbol. And from there I haven't been able to fix it. The installation flash drive also won't boot. It loads a little and then they system restarts.
I have set the BIOS settings back to the requirements of mac.
How can I fix this?
