@mattystonnie

Just so I'm clear, with Vega in mind tomorrow.

I'm trying to shoot for:
  • Latest 10.14.5 beta
  • iMac 19,1 SMBIOS
  • iGPU enabled or disabled in BIOS?
  • No dummy and no VPAJpeg kexts in Other folder
  • InjectATI yes or no in Config ?
Anything else?

  • IGPU disabled
  • iMac 19.1
  • Lasted Mac OS Beta
  • Only NoVPAJpeg in clover/others
  • Inject ATI yes

  • Only NoVPAJpeg in clover/others

Why this one in particular?
Didn't you mention that Apple enabled the encoding/decoding for DGPUs in the betas (and beyond)?

Also - I forgot one.
What about WhateverGreen.kext ?
Yay or nay?

Okay. I figured out why you were not getting H.264 encoding. You have NoVPAJpeg.kext installed in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/. Get rid of that thing. It disables hardware encoding.

It didnt help still same. I clear kexts cache but No H265;

CPU type should be 1009. NOT 1019.

Preview and Quick look will only work with png , if you want to open jpegs you will need NoVpaJpeg.
Yes they enabled hw decoding/ encoding for DGPU (AppleGVA).
AppleVPA is the one responsible with jpegs, with NoVPAJpeg you disable it, maybe it will be fixed with the final release of 10.14.5.

H265 also called HEVC is working for you.

Add this to clover/kexts/others and disable IGPU in bios.

Man, I know it is working when we disable IGPU in BIOS. I especially trying to @pastrychef method cause he's system working without disabled IGPU in BIOS.

It's possible you have corrupt AppleGVA.framework. Please see the bottom of this post for instructions on how to restore a clean one.

Also, check that you don't have NoVPAJpeg.kext in /Library/Extensions/.

I don't think so but I can try this instruction. But I didn't understand am I boot in the installer USB or I just connect to the installer USB then use terminal commands?

BTW are you using WEG?

Just plug in your USB installer. No need to boot from it.

Yes, I use WhateverGreen. The only reason why I use it is because it helps with my AirPlay Mirroring.

@mattystonnie

So I'm back and rolling on the Beta now with 19,1

But..
With iGPU disabled, InjectATI enabled and using the dummy kext (and I tested without), I no longer can get HBONow to play.
