Edit: just tested SMBIOS same as your iMac17,1, QuickTime recording get same issue, recoding start but failed to save.

Yes, tested, same issue failed to save, add hwe420 and allowFrameReordering to iMac17,1 GVA work otherwise not work.

I tested on iMac 18,3, QuickTime screen recording and save on my desktop works. I see the IGPU loading in Intel Power Gadget.
What should I test more?

QuickTime screen recording is handled by IQSV, need disable IGPU for test, I just re-check AppleGVA info.plist, still only iMacPro1,1 support hwe420.

Working with IGPU disabled in the bios and only DGPU enabled. iMac 18,3.

Seems to be in SW mode, CPU frequency and PKG power seems to be so high, I will test it later.

Also tested in FCPX, exported H.642 well, final video without artifacts.
