pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I get this. The External drive is the USB boot stick. What now? I tried to boot in all possible options, but does not get any "safe mode" result. Do you have to reinstall os x every time you mess up?

I don't know what you've done.

What problems did you have? How did it happen? What changes did you make?

That looks like a MultiBeast installation. My EFI doesn't include that theme. If you ran MultiBeast and installed kexts with it, it's not surprising that you are having boot problems. MultiBeasts installs kexts in /Library/Extensions/. My EFI injects kexts from Clover.

Mixing and matching different installation methods is a bad idea. Everyone does things a little differently.

Ah ok. That explains it. I made a clean install (again), because I gave up. My system runs rather smooth now, but I had some issues with the USB I wanted to attend to. This is fixed now thanks to your guide.

I've been looking for a Hackintosh noob guide that explains all the lingo and expressions in "normal language" when installing and post error fixing. So far with no luck.

If you are doing it my way, it's very easy...
  1. Create USB installer.
  2. Copy my EFI folder to the EFI partition of the USB installer.
  3. Install macOS.
  4. Copy my EFI folder to the EFI partition of your main system drive.
  5. Done.
I don't know how much easier I can make it...

If you want an explanation of what my EFI folder is doing, please see this post.

If you install hackintosh kexts to /Library/Extensions/, do not use my EFI folder. It will not work and it will only give you problems.

Also, clean installs are overrated. I haven't done a clean install in about 12-13 years.

"1. Create USB installer " Sounds very simple, but if you have not used Unibeat, then what have You used to make the installer?

It might be that clean installs are overrated, but if I'm not able to access the os x installation at all, then would should I do then?

There are multiple ways to create the USB installer.
You should be able to boot in to Safe Mode and fix things or boot in to the macOS installer and launch Terminal to fix things.

Thank you very much for your time. I really appreciate it!

Could I make a UniBeast installer and add your EFI folder to the USB drive? There's only a EFI Backups folder to my knowledge as default. Also thanks for the link to your EFI folder and what it all means.

Yes. Since you've already created your USB installer using UniBeast, you can just replace (not merge!) the EFI folder on the EFI partition of the USB flash drive and use it.

Hello @pastrychef.

I followed your guide to configure my 9900K and ASUS z390i and everything went fine except for the HD 630 which is showing as "Display 8 MB" on overview menu after using the fix for 9th gen iGPU.

It´s connected through a GTX 980 to the monitor. Is there any fix for it?

What do you mean it's connected through a GTX 980?

For 9th gen CPUs, you must spoof 8th gen IGPU.

Which version of macOS have you installed? High Sierra or Mojave?

I have a NVIDIA GTX 980 in my PC, I´m using DVI port. I would like to use the Intel from the 9900K but macOS doesn't detect it properly, animations are not smooth and there are some glitches on the Safari tabs.
I did spoof 8th gen iGPU as you mention in the first post.
I´m on Mojave.
