[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

Re-create USB installer.
Make sure BIOS settings are correct.

Yes, of course.
If you read the FAQ, it states it quite clearly:

Reformatted my USB drive, reinstalled Clover with the default .efi driver. Added HFSplus and HPFanReset. Added all the recommended kexts. Reistalled the os X installer on the other partition using createinstallmedia.

Reset the BIOS again, reset default and then follow your guide to check (or uncheck) specific items except for the following which do not apply to my machine:

- disable the serial port via BIOS option, if available
- disable "Extended Idle Power States" if you find it under "Power Management Options"
- disable Firewire/IEEE 1394, if your laptop has it
- for Skylake and KabyLake laptop, enable "Launch Hotkeys without Fn keypress"

reformatted the SSD to Mac OS extended (journaled), GUID Partition map. Started the installation, agreed to apple's term, selected the drive, looked at the progess bar go up a bit and then the whole system shut down on a CMOS error just like it's been doing since the beginning.

***When I got the computer, the time on it was wrong. I changed it in BIOS prior to my first attempt at booting on the USB drive. The time is still good. I have done a couple EC reset, have left the computer A/C unplugged with the main battery removed for the night and the date and time is still good (so the CMOS battery should be OK). Could it be that it is expecting a different time as the one I manually set on there? If so, is there a way to find out what time it's expecting to get and manually change it back? (if that's what's causing the error). Honnestly, I just don't know what to do. Have exausted all my resources.

I am stuck

A reboot at the point you describe is normal.
As is the CMOS problem that may result at that point.

How do I complete the installation? It reboot on the page I linked above:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...loading-of-install-files-black-screen.154784/

So I hit enter and reboot. When I reach the clover screen I can either boot on the USB which will bring me back starting the installation again, it will crash at the same point and bring pe back to the same CMOS error page again...

or I can boot on the SDD to continue installation. Problem is : the progression bar starts and then I'm hit with this error message:

"macOS could not be installed on your computer
An error occurred while loading the installer resources.
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again"

And if I quit to restart and try again, it just does it again and again and again

So either way I'm stuck in a never ending loop of error message

What version of macOS/OS X are you installing?
Which selections do you see in Clover?

macOS 10.13.6

2 selections :

-Boot macOS install from "name of my SSD"
-Boot macOS install from install_osx

I was able to pull the crach log it gives me if I try the first option (from my SSD)

Make sure you have a complete installer.

Make sure you have a complete installer.

I downloaded mine directly on the app store using my Hackintosh (Dell inspiron) but I had trouble at first to use the createinstallmedia and had to force installation on the machine, then quite, than come back and copy the SharedSupport files in it as I found searching on the web.

Just found a direct link from apple which should give me a new vanilla installation app from which to createinstallmedia from. Will report back

It went further on the initial phase before crashing with the CMOS error (about 3/4 of the way instead of uner 1/3). Rebooted and selected "install macOS from my SSD" from Clover and here I am just finishing phase 2 of installation process (no crashes).

Went around in circles trying to change everything else for the last day and turned out the only thing I never suspected to be wrong was wrong : the macOS installer downloaded straight from the app store on my other Hack.

Note to self : use a link to the installer directly on apple's website next time.

Big thanks for taking the time to walk me out of there RehabMan. Kudos!

Now off to post install!
