pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I found that MacX Video Converter Pro is now called VideoProc Video Converter. I downloaded it from here. It DID launch, and it indicates that I do have GPU acceleration, however, per the screen shot it points to the Intel UHD 630 GPU, and not my AMD RX 580 card. Is this how this is supposed to work?

Also everybody, the new VideoProc Video Converter that can utilize Intel Quicksync is now being given away for free! Limited time only but this usually costs a fair penny. Also you can download the version for Windows that will also utilize Quicksync, Nvidia or ATI cards.
Here is the link from 9to5mac.

Yes that is how its meant to work, it utilises Intel QuickSync. If you get the Intel Power Gadget then you can verify if your conversion is indeed using QS or not. I find QS conversion much faster than regular CPU and even GPU conversion.

Excellent! Thank you so much!

Yes, that's how it is for me too.

Thanks! It would be cool if you can post this in the "Deals Of The Day" sub-forum.

Try hooking monitor to motherboard, it sounds like active IGPU. Also, if you unplug all your disk drives it should go straight to bios menu.
Hey! Thanks for the tips! I tried display through motherboard and removed all drives, and it still didn't show anything on any screen. Just the M.2 drive was not removed. I didn't want to screw everything up. Now, I don't have a way to access the UEFI BIOS to turn off CSM. There's no BIOS flash feature on my card even though I thought there was ;( I'm a bit screwed now.

This is a silly question but I just wanted to be 100% sure:

I either get the MacBook Air WiFi card + M.2 adapter or the Dell one, right?

One other question to Pastrychef: did you have to make any custom configs to get the MSI Vega 56 to work out of the box? Or it works fine just like the Sapphire?

I was just making some quick cost calculations and your entire build, if buying everything brand new in Sweden, would cost around $2000 (plus tax). This is with the RX580 Pulse. Everything else would be exactly the same, except RAM is a different brand. Does that make sense in USA prices?

Now I'm trying to find as many components on the used market as possible but seems like I'll only find the CPU, SDD and RAM. Not many of the Z370-G out there it seems...

You can try clearing CMOS but that would require the you re-enter all your BIOS settings.

Yes, if you want to make use of the M.2 slot for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, those are the two best options.

Yes, my Vega 56 was very much plug-n-play. I do have WhateverGreen installed but it works without WhateverGreen too, I just lose AirPlay video if WhateverGreen is not installed.

That was approximately what I spent when I first put together my first Z170 hackintosh. When I updated to Z370, I just swapped out motherboard and CPU. You can use my Z370 build thread as a guide with almost any Z370 motherboard. The only thing you would have to figure out on your own is the SSDT-USB mapping.

Thank you! Sounds great!

No way to use the built in WiFi/BT of the Asus board? Or connecting elsewhere than the M.2? There's only 2*M.2 slots right? So can only connect one SSD there if the other has the WiFi/BT card?
